Some doctors just don't give a shit. They should have told you about the low levels... It makes me so mad! My mom went to a walk in clinic once and the doc told her she had an ear infection. 2 days later she was in a coma with bacterial meningitis. Nice job, doc. I hope everything works out ok with you and with your job too... keep us posted!!!
Don't be worried about getting iron infusions, I know many post-opers who have had to do this and it resolved their issues. You really need to be your own advocate, and stay on the phone or in the office until you get what you need. I hope things get better for you. Thank you for keeping us all updated on your situation.
OMG Laura I can't believe this is happening to you, I really hope it gets better fast and the doctor you're dealing with now isn't a complete idiot, you have my # and I'm always here if you need to talk.... Feel better and get some rest.....<3
please make sure you get copies of all of your lab work so YOU can see what levels are low and normal. this applies for everyone reading this, we must be our own advocates.
Im so sorry your going through this. You sure have had your share to deal with for the last couple of years and to add this one right on top of the others. I hope you start to feel better and I would definitely start taking up some type of legal action w/ you doctor.
I feel ya girlfriend! ugggg... I am pretty much in the same boat. I sure hope a miracle comes your way <3 If you ever wanna chat, send me a message, I'll be here for ya ~ hugs
meaning... different diagnosis, but same as far as being misdiagnosed and tests being ignored for sooo long that at this point I am truly suffering. For what I have there is absolutely NO treatment or cure, but if the Docs had given a damn earlier there may have been choices to help...at this point they are pretty much just telling me to suck it up and deal with it all the best I can. I am in EXTREME pain every day and basically living off of pain meds (which I hate) but ...it is what it is.
my issue involves HUGE cysts, blood, skin, and now my organs...it's called Hidradenitis Suppurativa. I am now in late stage 3... it's really bad! Somedays are better than others...but YEA, it totally pisses me off that these "professionals" don't take more of an initiative, and sometimes our dilagence is simply not enough since we don't have the knowledge to know which questions to ask... I know you understand what I'm trying to say. Hang in there hun. I hope you can get all this resolved quick.
Totally sue the pants off your idiot doctor who let you waste away for so long with critically low iron levels!! WTF?! I'm so sorry. Just do what you can now to take care of yourself. Sometimes you have to be your own advocate.
The thing is.. I take the time to schedule all of my own blood work and I tell the doctors exactly what I want checked and I say IF ANYTHING IS WRONG LEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT AND TELL ME THE CORRECT METHOD TO FIX IT!!! Like, I'm very clear about what I'm after.. you think they'd appreciate that and give me the info I've asked for but NO!
This is a very very calmed down version of me lol I purposely didn't make a video when I found out because I was so extremely upset and a video might have scared people lol!
There's support groups online that are really good. I'm on DailyStrength, they have a group for gastric bypass and the people on there are wonderful and will give you advice, ideas, and cry & laugh with you. I hope your anemia gets better and things work out with your job. Hang in there!
Don't apologize for your ramblings. I am glad you posted this. You have brought the importance of taking my iron supplements to the fore front of my mind. It had been on the back burner for too long. Thanks. I am so sorry to hear about your health, job and idiot doctors. Seriously, a year and a half? Your doctor sucks. I hope you make it so they don't get away with it. A year and half is a long time to have had low levels. I hope you feel better soon. Keep in touch.
Well you're welcome then! :P Yes, a year and a half.. and it wasn't just one doctor, it was actually somewhere between 6-7 doctors that I've seen since mid 2008.
i am so sorry to hear you are not ok. Anemia is a pain in the ass but they will get it fixed. The infusions will help u and then u will feel a lot better! I wish u all the best! Hugs Nadine
I'm not even concerned about the fatigue. I'm concerned about the fact that the doctor told me that my memory issues may be permanent at this point... I really hope he's wrong.
sweety i hope you get better. i wish you the BEST of LUCK!

What's wrong? :-/ I'm sorry to hear that but oddly happy that someone else knows that it feels like to be so severely let down by doctors.
