If youhave to lie about geology or believe this lie about geology then your religion isn't worth following. Mountains are not pegs, they are formed when plate tectonics smash into each other folding one over the other. The most a mountain can cause is a tsunami if its near a large body of water be a lake or ocean. If you believe this stuff then you probably won't look at what an actual geologist says.

yeah, modern science recently discovered this. these miracles are no miracles. humans were already smart thousands of years ago. perpetual motion and numbers 0123456789 come from india. aristotle already talked about surface tension. and before europeans executed anyone that claimed the earth was round, greeks already talked about spherical earth 500 BCE.

Even if you aren't Muslim, this is interesting, because it shows the logic of those who wrote(or transcribed, if you like) the Qur'an. It makes sense to think that mountains would prevent earthquakes- after all, they're so heavy, that it seems like they would hold the earth "down" and prevent it from shaking. The basic logic works, whether or not it contradicts science.

mountains are a very small part of rocks that came up to the surface. they do not hold the earth down and prevent it from shaking. the basic logic does not work, science will always tell the truth with EVIDENCE.
