  • Curry in his prime would have destroyed Floyd Mayweather

  • i love mills but if he ever had an off night this was definitely it

  • Best single left hook ever landed IMO. That was unbelievable. It blows my mind every time I watch it. Lightning fast and only a few inches of travel. Absolutely perfect.

  • Ray Leonard said it was one of the best left hooks he had ever seen.

  • Afftar the Nino La Rocca fight and this one wasn't Don Curry looking like the ultimate counter puncher at this point?

  • His enemy was cocaine, not that bum Honeyghan LOL.

  • Why did Mills allow him to continue? Did he want him to get killed?

  • @FSMNoodlyAppendage Referee Lane Mills is an attention getter. He loves the camera and the attention. He should've stopped the fight after the first knock down. But he didn't. It really blew my mind to this day because I sat only few feet away from the ring side where the thunderous sound of McCrory hitting the canvas.

  • curry looked unbeatable until lloyd honeyghan did a number on him.sadly he was never the same after that.

  • Its all down hill after this fight for curry sadly hard too beleve, what happened?

  • The left hook is nasy fast even in slow motion.

  • Mills Lane...you idiot. What the hell are you counting for? McCrory was as well as gone after the 1st KD, and he could have stopped the match there and then. The second was a no brainer: instant stoppage.

  • ONE OF MY FAVORITE FIGHTS,,ONE OF THE BEST ONE PUNCH KNOCK OUTS,,,,,EVER,,,,THE LEFT HOOK IS SICK,,!

  • Maybe a better fight if McCory had a full 24 hours after the weigh in instead of the 11-12 hours he had. McCory took the best Mccallum had for 10 rds before falling but here he seems to be hurt with almost every punch. Curry was not that damn devastating.

  • Commentators with this casual air about a man getting needlessly hit after already being as good as KO'd should be made to take a few shots themselves, then maybe they might develop a human side instead of trying to sell uneccesary violence as something spectacular.

  • Ref should NEVER have been counting after that 2nd knockdown! Medics shouldve been in there... McCrory was GONE...

  • @PhflyDan1 That was back in the day. 1985.

These days, Curry doesn't get that second shot in.

  • @vamoalla9 Hmmmm. Probably.. Depends on ref positioning & perhaps how fast a guys hands/feet are bless...

  • what a counter!

  • I know that it was a few years ago, but why is Mills Lane counting after the 2nd knockdown - the fight was over from the moment Curry landed that amazing left.

  • At this point, Curry looked like he was on his way to the Hall of Fame! It's mind-boggling how quickly his prime was over

  • KO classic

  • Mills Lane became a better referee later on. I'm surprised he let it go on after the first knockdown. There was no need to count on the 2nd knockdown. Mills was probably taking into consideration that both fighters were undefeated champions and wanted to give them every opportunity to come back, but there was no coming back from those knockdowns.

  • Miles Lane should never have been allowed 2 step in a ring again let alone ref a fight after that. terrable refing

  • I loved Donald Curry's style and stance - very much like his nickname 'the Cobra' - but then our boy Lloyd Honeyghan come along and battered him

  • McCrory should have lost twice to Jones - he certainly lost thr first one. Curry never hurt Jones just bust his nose up proper. Honeyghan (until 2nd Vaca fight) was well focused and then lost it big style.

  • Beautiful left hook.If he could have kept his head right,Curry would have been one of the greats.

  • Whoa!

    What a convincing finish!!!

  • I agree with andy123. Mccrory should have been receiving medical attention while Lane was counting the 2nd time! Man could get really hurt.. Great shot though from Curry

  • Curry had excellent technical boxing skills. He really was one of the better examples of an elite textbook boxer that we've had in modern times. Ricardo Lopez would be another.

  • Agreed, and I think the Marquez brothers are two more examples.

  • Curry had great fundamentals. Hands up, chin down, elbows in, tight defense. He also had speed, power and accuracy. If had been able to stay clean and off the drugs he would have been in the class of Leonard and Hearns.

  • He never really had the durability to be great, nor the mentality it appeared, though he definitely had the skills.

  • the best left hook i ever seen. curry would of done ray bigtime. ray was lucky against hearns and duran beat him up then 'no mass'. ray didnt fight anyone who was mega star and he defo didnt beat hagler. its all fixed for the mob them greasy meatballs. well i aint scared of you or your mamma and don corleonne can shut v &^ck up cos i run los santos. mamma mia i neede pizza anda icy screama. bring me the horses head

  • Donald Curry and Sugar Ray Leonard were both badass fighters, Great Styles and skill. Love em both!

  • I think Mills Lane is a great referee but he should never have let McCrory continue after the first knock-down. Milton was stumbling around and couldn't even put his guard up properly. Curry just walked in and helped himself to a juicy right hand. Quite horrible to watch, actually. If Curry had a decent chin he would've been pretty much unstoppable. But given that he had poor punch resistance, I think SRL would've got through to him sooner or later.

  • Curry wasn't better that leonard, leonard is one of the best fighters ever.

  • Doooooo wop! Sheee dooooo!!!

  • all yall fucking crazy curry would knock leonard out leonard wasnt even in currys league

  • No way was Curry better than Leonard! He was an excellent for about 3 years, but Leonard was superior and competitive for much longer.

  • You're right on the money. Curry wasn't as good as Leonard, but he was the closest thing there was to a new Leonard for the welterweight division after Leonard's retirement. I saw Curry-Starling fight on TV and Curry was just brilliant.

  • I fought donald curry when we were amateurs back in the early 80's. We're both from Texas. Donald was a bad mother fucker. I was disqualified for poking him in the eye. Donald was really a phenomenal talent...the greatest fighter I have ever faced. I'm a southpaw, but his stance was so flawless, I remember it was very difficult to land clean shots on him.

  • more BS

  • textbook left hook! one of the best fighters of his era. an awesome counterpuncher!

  • McCrory was very weak for this fight due to making the weight. I'm not saying he would've beat Curry but I think it would have more competitive if he'd been at his best.

  • Curry didn't even get hit when he was younger.

  • He got dropped winning the belt back in 83

  • I remember they tried to promote this fight as another Leonard vs Hearns. Didn't quite work out that way.

  • Curry was an awesome fighter in his prime but unfortunately he outgrew the welterweight division and was not strong at the weight. This was his last great fight. I remember watching it live and thinking WOW!! Best left hook ever. Such a shame that his life spiralled out of control and hes know completely broke. He was pure class.

  • oh yeah donald was better then sugar ray leonard and would have knocked him out and whoever dont think so is crazy donald curry was faster then leonard and was more scientific then leonard and was just better period

  • LMAO!

  • donald curry is the greatest fighter i have ever seen next to sugar ray robinson, i think he would could have gone down as great as robinson but i knoow havin 400 amatuer fights burnt hin out that was like equal to havin like 100 pro fights he was starting to lose it thats why he lost to honeyghan and those other guys donald curry was a master boxer

  • Ridiculous.

  • i don't think that is it. His style was so exact. He was such a beautiful counterpuncher that when he slipped just a bit, it made him more hittable. And he really was not a guy who could take alot of punishment. When he was in his prime he was such a beautiful counterpuncher.

  • Good point. Same thing happened to Wilfred Benitez. Once known as Radar, once his reflexes slipped, he was just a punching bag. Curry´s fight against Terry Norris in 1991 was ugly.

  • curry burned his self out with 400 amatuer fights

  • Curry would knock him out any time they would fight.

  • Wonder what would've happened had they fought earlier.

  • Curry was pure gold for about 18 months and then bang it was all over.

  • I always thought Curry's downfall must have started right after this fight. Even though Rodriguez only lasted 2 rounds in Curry's next fight, he hit Donald with some pretty good shots he no business landing against the Lone Star Cobra. The Honeyghan fight just put the exclamation point on it.

  • Great performance from curry!

  • I can remember watching this with great anticipation. It just boggled my mind that anyone gave McCrory any chance at all in this fight. He had nothing but an advanced journeyman's skills, struggled against average guys, and to think he could compete with Curry at this stage was amazing to me. The only reason McCrory was a "champ" was that there were two belts available.

  • Curry use to train over in this small gym in Lewisville, TX. I use to go watch him train. He was on top of the world before the Honeyghan fight. He was never the same after that. I remember the fight against McCallum WOW!!! What a punch!

  • Curry sort of was the kind of fighter who was great when he was sharp and had everything working perfect, but when he got distracted just a little like he did with Honeyghan it all feel apart, and his chin was not the best. almost his feet being so wide apart was the problem also.

  • I remember how at the end of this fight McCrory was so out of it that he asked what round it was. Curry was on track to be one of the alltime greats. I always wondered what happened to him in such short a period of time.

  • Curry's fundamentals are unbelievable, hands up, chin down, elbows in, super tight structure. He blocks, parry's, picks off punches with his gloves, bends at the waist and moves his head. Perfect jab, his left hook is thrown in the style of Dempsey and his straight right is down the pipe. Beautiful. He would have beat Trindad and Delahoya at their best.

  • Agree.

  • Curry was a good fighter but he ran into Lloyd Honeyghan unfortunately, a fellow countryman who beat his ass down, shit happens

  • Curry Was Born in Fort Worth, Texas. Honeygan was an Englishman

  • yeah ,sorry wrote that a little confusingly, i meant Lloyd is MY fellow countryman (a limey like me) not donald.

  • @limeychefboy Oi Oi ENGLAND!!! Lol

  • Damn, Curry was poetry in motion when he was in his prime. I think drugs and personal problems cut his prime considerably. Ashamed too.

  • 21 years later,..McRory still hasn't seen the left that knocked him on his ass,..Cobra Curry those of us here in Fort Worth miss what could've been a helluva career.

  • yah!!! I lived this and I was only 5!!! hell yah

  • mag is RoXoR... upload more vids of curry

  • Haha

  • KTFO! The last right just ruined him
