  • these tutorial really have big help to those who still learning katakana...thank you a lot!

  • foreign and borrowed words is katakana..

  • isnt the character for "yu" wrong on this vid?? i thought it was a half of the character for yo, the character on here shows the same one for tsu...

  • thanks for the video ^^

  • the soccer I thought they said sukka like sucker

  • muito legal mais kd a traduçao portuguese rs

  • is because katakanas are used for foreign words, mostly english.

  • they sound english because they arent japanese words,i found namasensei great for learning check it out

  • Who makes the katakana words? In kill bill a yakuza said Charlie bransjan and than a woman said charlie brownie (charlie brown), do they make the katakana words themselves?

  • How come the words sound english?

  • @zocurtis

Words in this video are all written in Katakana, which is usually used when describing "loan word".

For example, when curtain was introduced to Japan, word "カーテン" was made.

So this word is more or less similar to its original pronunciation.

  • @zocurtis Katakana is used mainly to write word in other languages. So basically When they say oranges, it really does mean oranges but they put it in a way so that a japanese person would be able to read and pronounce it

  • Most of the words sound like English.

    This is great! :D

    5/5

  • every educational and useful

thank you very much for posting this

  • im not sure if i wanna learn japanese, i mean, i do, but, its really complicated, i know 1 - 10 and their symbols off by heart, but in ja[an, you have to translate from the weird symbols, then translate again to english! what should i do? should i keep going or not?

  • to truly be fluent you will have to devote LOTS of time. Give it a go. If you give up then you give up. No biggie :)

  • keep going

  • don't translate to english, if you notice from this video that's what they're encouraging, when speaking english you don't translate you just associate words with objects or thoughts, do the same for other languages. translation will come later.

  • lol most of the words come from english O.O HORAY FOR ME BCOZ THAT MEANS I CAN LURN IT EASILY BTW I START FROM NOW SO A PM WITH AN EXPLENATION WOULD NOT BE BAD

  • The words that are spelled with Katakana are loanwords.

  • No, no, no. This shows how Katakana is used to pronounce foreign words with Japanese alphabet, that's it.

  • This is awesome!
