i completely despise "grind house releasing" they buy up the rights to GREAT movies then do NOTHING with them. they have had the rights to massacre mafia style for over 6 years promising a GREAT dvd release and still have not done it. they have been dragging their feet with gone with the pope for about 6 years also FINALLY releasing it in theaters, NONE NEAR ME, and now they will not release the dvd for probably another 2 years they get great movies but do nothing with them it's horrible !!!

The Grindhouse Releasing edition dvd is the only one I'm interested in, The family edition dvd release is a rip off. Just watched this in a cinema down here in Melbourne. Great fun and Duke Mitchell is fantastic. Touching in parts, very funny, excellent soundtrack (that 'JACKNIFE' song in this trailer is used really well a few times), fast moving, and a surprisingly creepy ending! Bizarre to watch the black chick in the trailer above chuckle at all of Duke's racial epithets during their scenes together, but there you go. The Pope character has some great scenes on the boat, too. A four star film for me.

Saw this tonight in theaters in NYC. it was great. if you're a fan of Massacre Mafia Style or old grindhouse films you'll love it. If you're expecting something like The Godfather you'll hate it. It has some really funny moments(especially some of the bad line readings). I hope the DVD is in the works, because i'd already love to see it again. A really great surreal ending with the candles in the church and freeze frame similar to The 400 Blows.

Seriously, I can't tell if this is awesome or horrible, or both. Hell, some of the cinematography and style is great. I hate to say it, but this might be worth a remake of some kind, maybe by Tarantino or a director who can appreciate the grindhouse flavor of this kind of movie.
