  • What episode did this clip come from?

  • @xXLadyDataxX Peak Performance.

  • Data was very humorous in the first season. He was acting very human-ish, I thought. I think they kind of dialed it down in the other seasons.

  • Over....analyzing???? BUT THE META! THINK ABOUT THE META!!!!

  • That's why reconissence, spies and intelligence is so important in warfare. You can't guess what the enemy might be thinking, even based on his previous patterns.

  • @Chnamanjx and thats why that have counter intelligence. Which is when you purposely produce incorrect/misleading information in hopes that spies/scouts will discover it.

  • @chattyw87 But knowing they know you might plant the intelligence, and therefore they will ignore it or assume it's false and then seek other intelligence, you might be better off giving them the real intelligence that they will believe is false. Then they ignore the real intelligence, unless knowing you know they know they assume your false intelligence is real and therefore use it. In that case, give them false intelligence.

  • @chattyw87 And that's why we have counter-counter intelligence, so that *BRRRTTT*

    INCEPTION.

  • Reddit brought me here.

  • @Kaliptuz Awesome! Enjoy your downvote!

  • That's how protoss players do it

  • This is me playing SC2.

  • that what happens when you throw a relatively simple problem at a mind with 60 teraflops ...

what Deanna's simple brain doesn't understand is that Data knows that she thinks he's over analyzing, but there is still the need to do that . Since he is obviously smarter than humans (or Betazoids in this case), stopping Data's train of thought is ....illogical.

  • It's a good thing Diana stopped him or else Data would have gone bonkers

  • ROFL! I just realized an inside joke! I'm over-analyzing 'data' get it? XD

  • @planetary109

Yep, that's what one of the top comments says.

  • @Z0mbieS1ayer Oh, now I see XD

  • brent spiner looks very young here compared to other season 2 eps

  • deanna; "ok we GET IT! he might and he might not - shit! .. if he does it will be one thing and if he doesnt it will be something else, OK! JEES. we get it data STFU" lol

  • Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet, because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.

  • @jakep1979 perfect comment

  • @jakep1979 A truly clever man keeps his lips shut and pretends to drink what is in the goblet and if the other person doesn't die, he pretends to pass out. Then he beats the other dude over the head with the goblet.

  • @WebVManReturns Yezzzz.... You think like a true mastermind, my friend! }=D

  • @WebVManReturns not if the other man stabs him to make sure he was dead

  • @WebVManReturns What if the poison is absorbed through the skin as well as ingestion?

  • @jakep1979 "Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line!" (more or less, the idea is there)

  • @jakep1979 You're stalling.

  • @jakep1979 and die of thirst

  • @jakep1979 well stated!

  • @jakep1979

Truly, you have a dizzying intellect!

  • @jakep1979 aha princess bride i love it!!

  • I would of let him keep going and see him say well if he knows that we know that he knows that we know then he indefinably know we know he know that we know indubitably.

  • WIFOM

  • is it just me or should he have said "knowing that we know that he knows that we know" rather than "knowing that he knows that we know that he knows" ?

  • Dang, has anyone heard the phrases "known knowns" and "known unknowns" and such such before?

  • Man old sci-fi is fascinating. Nowadays it's obvious that you just employ a mixed strategy. This analysis belongs in the 24th century like a flying bubble car belongs in today.

  • Therefore, Will Riker is Kira.

  • Eddie Murphy: Comedian

  • Clearly Data knows not to go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line.

  • Ding Level 85.

  • Watch him go uninterrupted and his brain starts to smoke.

  • Ding lvl 80

  • he's so adorable <3

  • Wow, even andoids of the future have trouble utilizing the game theory.

  • @kortexsirvasil IKR?

  • yeah don't go one level deeper or your head will explode

  • Inconceivable!

  • @Udink You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

  • I do this ALL THE TIME. Most people find it irritating when I do it but now I see Data do this I can't help but think of it as being fun and meaningful. If Data continued to do this without being interrupted by Troi, he would have come up with the perfect plan of action... Why can't people see that?

  • @Elwood1992. of course, he'd only spent an infinite amount of time making huge strings of "that he knows that we know that he knows that we know that he knows that we know that he knows that we know that he knows that we know..."

  • No I am not; sugar boobs.

  • If he kept going, he would've eventually BSOD'd.

  • Data wants to level up!

  • Strange....that's my way of thinking.

  • did you see data raise his head when troi told him he was over-analyzing? it's like data was shocked and thinking, "you're the craziest bitch i've ever met!"

  • Knowing the he knows that we know that he knows...that had such a nice tune to it, lol

  • clearly Riker poisioned both glasses

  • @0Cazador Inconceivable!

  • wait...what? O_o

  • Data's a doll

  • I think Data was referring to Wesley and the fact that everyone knows he is gay.

  • I don't understand how people find what he says, hard to grasp. If someone has the knowledge that people anticipate certain behavior, one might alter the behavior because of that, or remain on the same course due to anticipating that you will think that the course of action will be altered becaues of his knowledge of your knowledge.

An anticipation of an alternation based on knowledge.

  • @Andreazor Data is alive, and he's on YouTube!

  • @Andreazor Wooooeeeerrghh!! PARADOX TIME!!

  • @Andreazor

Yeah, it's pretty obvious. It is just that it sounded funny.

  • "But... knowing that he knows that we know that he knows..."

    Jesus...

  • Well if he knows and we know... do they know? LOL just the fact that he can say all that with a straight face is amazing.

  • So if he knows that we know that he knows that we knows that he knows,,,

  • Knows whats he Knows...........what?

  • he knows that we know what he knows.

  • You're over-analyzing Data... it's almost like a pun.

  • And that's the danger of knowing that he knows that you know that he knows.

  • man, he almost went into an infinite loop. that would have been a pretty entertaining episode. Oh wait... they did do one of those eps... nm

  • knowing that he knows that we know that he knows haha Data

  • Holy crap, it's as if the entire plot of Death Note was derived from this clip!!! O_O

  • LOL. I don't particularly like anime but from the four or five Death Note episodes I've seen, that is EXACTLY true.

  • @thktanuki OH MY GOD! It really is!

  • @thktanuki Thats the sad part

  • @thktanuki Lol

  • @thktanuki I read this comment of yours last week and thought, "What's Death Note?" So I looked it up, watched the entire AWESOME series through on Hulu, and now I'm watching it again. Thanks for the unintended recommendation. :)

  • @thktanuki how true but some how with Death Note they pulled it off.I loved that anime series I missed work a couple of times just to see it.

  • @thktanuki That's funny! I love Death Note, but it can get a little overcomplicated at times.

  • You know, Grand Nagus Zek originated this routine. :)

  • I always use this method for rock papper siccors, it usualy works! XD

  • Very funny video.

  • He borrow that line from Ralph Crandon?

  • OH from honeymooners? daddy used to love that show, and mr. gleason

  • You betcha Alice! ;)

  • Peak Performance. Season 2, Episode 21

  • you guys, what is the name of this episode?

  • LOL.

I dare anyone to watch just one episode of this show and deny that they love this guy.

  • This type of problem could have crippled a robot on the original "Star Trek" series. Usually "I'm lying" or "I always lie" would be illogical to do the trick. It's funny you couldn't take Spock down with a comment like that too.

  • "But knowing that he knows that we know that he knows - "

    Data, never change :D

  • that line never fails to crack me up!

  • Lol! I always reasoned that way as a kid ^.^

  • ROFL i saw this on tv today and i was in tears laughing......yes it really hit the funny bone!

  • I love that scene!

Knowing that he knows that we know, what he thinks he knows but doesn't know, but he could know that we know he knows :P

  • I've seen/heard something like this (scene) before, couldn't this (hypothetically) go on for Infinity? I mean they each-other know of the other's plans. etc...

  • A similar scene was in the Princess Bride battle of wits.

  • Yes, and in the original "Star Trek" little logical problems or loops were used to stop robots all of the time.

  • *LOL* So cute....

  • i agree<3

  • Over-analyzing???? He hadn't even started yet!!

  • "You're over-analyzing, Data."

And this shocks him, of course. :)
