Why did he stop filming? I wanted to see them crying! I didn't get to see them cry! I wanted to see him throw the remote down the hill after the plane! I've bought three RC planes. I cried after each one crashed. Each one crashed on the maiden flight too. I suck at RC planes. I'm gettin' a helicopter. You should too! Just sayin'! He should have filmed him crying!!!
hahahaha it deserved it cause you totally fucked it with extra flaps and motor made it into non scale glider.. mine is hanging up it only had one flight it was so terrible worlds worst glider to fly vomit!
@javipons22 I don't know if he had that much in it. Half that or even less. But that's nothing. Search my videos for the Jet Rally crash I filmed. Watching a $7,000 jet go up in a fireball is WAY more "Holy" than this one.
@javipons22 : Generally, you just broke the plane, but most electronics stays in working conditions. In this case, i think the motor and cone are gone too. But if the ESC wasn't that close to the motor, he could have saved it too. Definatly a pilot error. when you enter into a spin with a glider, you are going to ground at 100% sure.
@diptwo nope...there are too many different options. Try watching "Alishanmao" channel. He just posted a 3 part video on all the gear you need for FPV. He explains it very well for beginners. Bottom line, expect to spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $750-$1000USD if you are starting from scratch.
@AgentK64 Get most of the crashing out of your system on a simulator. After that, buy a $100 foam plane that can be hot-glued back together for further crashing experiences. If you put in the work on the simulator, I doubt you will crash the real thing. Good Luck!
Pilot error whether battery/BEC or bad flying - it IS pilot error. And oh yeah its not FPV the guy is looking directly at the plane and not the screen. Video goggles are more convincing.
No, a pilot can use the best gear in a plane, do it perfectly, and it can still fail. Even the best pilots in the world lose planes, sometimes more than most because of their over confidence. But in this case, you are right, it was builders error. He should have used a much bigger BEC or A123 to power the receiver, not a 3 amp BEC.
As for not using the FPV, no responsible pilot would actually fly the plane FPV on the maiden. He would have done that the 2nd flight after it checked out ok.
@toddsher2112 Strange you guys talk about BEC with this glider plane, especially in such a strong wind. This plane is extremely fast, i got the same, it's called discus but is pretty similar. I really got the feeling that the plane fell to pieces (lost its integrity in some way..) due to overspeeding beyond what it could sustain.
Obviously, this domenicoscarlatti dude does not know what he is talking about... It's JR/Spektrum equipment, so more than likely it's the receiver going out... I've had the exact same thing happen to me with a spektrum AR7000 rx, I was flying my EP glider (Speedy) when I lost signal to the plane and the plane plummeted straight to the ground.
my gess he didn't need fpv. first, he even didn't look at the monitor. second, if he did he wouldn't see much, just a blue sky through blue the plastic. third, in general it's not a good idea to have a metal shield around trasmitters antena. the last one probably added something to the crash...
I lost a slope soarer on maiden when the voltage regulator overheated. Crash looked just the same. Everything was going smoothly and then suddenly it was heading almost straight down.
The only thing that concerned me in this vid was everyone being so blaze around a live electric motor. When the battery is plugged in, treat it as lethal. Trust me - I learned the hard way.
@DomenicoScarlatti It's very common that radio can shut down, sometimes do to defective lithium batteries, once I had a new battery in my plane and it only lasted for 10 mins when it should of lasted 40 mins. As toddsher2112 said also could be "receiver low voltage"
These CMPro models aren't really renowned for their high speed characteristics... They are a nice gentle plane on a 10-12 knot day, after that they make good kindling.
That said the plane was flown competently, and looks to me to be some form of elevator fail, possibly electronic, likely mechanical, linkage or servo broke from it's mounts in the tail. One thing for sure, for an electro glider, never run a BEC! This is asking for fail.
I wonder what can you see through this blue cockpit glass-i have Discus CS that is very close to this ventus and watching through the blue plastic, specially through an angle, gives a real distorted, unprecise image.
..oh well, i guess it doesn't matter for him since the plane broke...
Not your fault buddy. This model is also know for tips stall, and i supposed this was it instead of bec cuttof... I falled down in a torch, typicall for a tip stall...
I prefer to fly models closer into the slope. Some nice graceful flying can be had. I usually try and land smartish, when some hot shot starts flying a scale glider around like it`some kind of F16 because its only a matter of time before they over cook it.........Doh.
There's no doubt that he was flying it fast... he likes stuff fast. But I assure you, he didn't just "lose it" as you claim. The guy flies 200mph jets, so this wasn't moving anywhere near as fast as he is comfortable flying. And the wings didn't fold or anything, he just lost connection to it.
It was simple receiver low voltage shutdown. It had 8 or 9 digital servos in it, and he was running it all on a 3 amp BEC. He needed 2-3 times as much juice going to his receiver.
Just looks like a tip stall, what can you do for it ?! This is very difficult to recover, also impossible at fast speed. I don't believe in Bec Cuttoff, even with 9 digital servos in it (Drawn is less than 3A in peak all in movements...
@toddsher2112 Well if is such an experienced rc pilot you would have thought that he had an idea of what power this aircraft consumes, it was only in the air for a few minutes. Looks alot like pilot error to me.
@toddsher2112 Mate don't even bother replying to these twits, anyone with half a brain could see the gliders inputs were locked in (off the air) and it was heading for the dirt, too many armchair experts.
@toddsher2112 8 or 9 digital servos would do it. I've learned, when I suffered a brown out, I was luck not to lose the slow flying plane as it had time to reconnect, to use either a 5A BEC or use a 5 cell AA battery in my larger planes. In my gliders I just use regular analog servos. It's tough to lose a nice glider like that.
