hmmm, i prefer mine higher as well.

i think it makes it harder to play lower, and it makes me rather unbalenced. but saying that, i have a much larger body to mine and i'm a relitively small girl.

Bass is GENERALLY easier, but - not surprisingly - guitar comes with that extra prestige and kudos. Being able to say, "I play the guitar" is normally more exciting, "I play bass". But hey, learn guitar, then picking up the bass afterwards for a bit of fun should be simple with a few technique changes.
