It's still awesome to get up there & blow heads off--the shock value of growling & heavy guitars in front of an audience that knows nothing but pop music never gets old. Much to our surprise, we actually tied for 3rd place in this talent show (out of 15). We did a rock cover before this to win the crowd in our favor, but still... a tie for 3rd playing melodeath w/ this kind of audience? Who gets the last laugh? ;]

I am the frontman haha... the only reason I was being stiff was because I was making sure I could read the lyrics sheet in front of me on the floor while maintaining stage presence. We started practicing for this show few days before so I didn't have much time to memorize the lyrics to "Swim" I didn't already know. Just wanted to make sure I got the order of all the lyrics correct.

I guess? He's only had dreads for the latter half of his career with In Flames... When this album came out, he didn't have dreads. Most old-school IF would argue that IF was better before he had dreads anyway. I like just about all of their work, so personally, it doesn't matter. Anders is a nasty vocalist with or without dreads.

I personally am not a huge fan of growling, the only growling band I like is Moonsorrow. If you could get operatically trained to further yourself as a vocalist that would be great as it would show that you have a diverse voice that would not limit you to one type of singing, you have nothing to lose if you do get trained in other styles! but that is only my opinion. Keep up the good work :) as for the jeans, your the lead singer you can wear what you want ,go crazy

Mhmm... I can vibrato and what not, but I really want to increase my range... and for some reason doing all the growling in conjunction with the singing decreases my range a little (it's hard and sometimes impossible to hit the really high/low notes in my range after doing so much growling)

On YouTube, everything's a problem to some people haha... they're keyboard warriors.

Not even close. I would think the AtG shirt would solve any confusion, but some people are just stupid. Yeah, our drummer practices a lot... he's very dedicated. He's also been playing about as long as ChromeCelica00 and I have been playing guitar... so he's got lots of experience. The more your drummer practices, the better he'll get... so make him practice more hahah.

Not really sure... the majority of people (even non-metal heads) give me compliments on them. It's pretty rare they say something critical about them in person... more people are willing to criticize them on here probably cause they can't be physically harmed (hahah I wouldn't anyway... Thanks, man! Definitely! As of now, it's Deadtide. Chrome always brings up the overuse of tide in band names, and I'm well aware of it. Nothing pisses me off more than sounding generic. I've got that flaw in the back of my mind, but I spend a lot of time at the beach... it's one of my favorite places to be, so to me, the name has already has meaning.

As far as the "dead" part of the name, it serves for imagery, of which I have a whole image, including album cover art and the image I'm looking to create for our band (melodic death metal-based, NOT metalcore, which has completely over-saturated the metal world with generic everything, musically and as far as band names). We certainly won't limit ourselves to only melodeath, there will be different sounds here and there, but that's primarily the plan for our the foundation of our sound.

yea, man. we played two completely different songs so they needed an extra set of guitars to play in a different tuning. thanks! i always go apeshit... to me, performing (especially metal) for people is one of the greatest things on earth. he was just a little nervous cause he hadn't played live in a while and he wanted to concentrate on playing the right notes rather than looking good and sounding bad.
