  • I agree with ognaysayer, I had a new 94 Z28 withing 2 years the window motors burned out, the paint bubbled/peeled, the hatch lock broke, and it just sounded horrible with the stock y pipe and single exhaust. I changed to a 01 stang GT and it is slower but sounds so much better even stock and has lasted longer than my Tupperware camaro. Since I do not race at every light, I just listen to my flowmaster american thunder cat back and enjoy. The only avantage Gm cars have is cubic inches only.

  • i sold my 2002 WS6 to buy a 2006 mustang gt, i regret the switch. my mustang is a dog compared to my old ws6. so i understand the switch to a cobalt ss. the mustang fit and finish is much better though, the pontiac drove me nuts with interior rattles,broken window motors and t-top leaks.

    The 05+ gearboxes were very similar to sn-95's (both t5 and tremec 3650's)

  • This car was not the car i raced the s197 that had 4.10's in. I raced him in a retuend 2008 cobalt ss. Bone stock from the paper filter to the stock muffler. The only mod was a computer reflash. It's one of my other videos.

  • goodmagnu5 should be punched in the back of the head. STOCK MUSTANG vs STOCK COBALT = wrecked. Supercharged STOCK SS COBALT vs STOCK MUSTANG = multiple lengths. Supercharged STOCK SS COBALT vs SUPERCHARGED MUSTANG GT = sad day in somber town. Should have supercharged your mustang or but bolt ons on it now you have a ricer that doesnt stand out AT ALL

    I think you're the one needing to do the research buddy. and if all you had was a cai and tune, you weren't over 300rwhp. Sorry, stock h and mufflers aren't going to allow that.

    My gt had cai, 93 tune, cmcv deletes, off road H, and slp power flo mufflers, and it was right there at 300rwhp.

    And i'm not stranger to mustangs. dohc cobra, 5.0 gt, 2v mod gt, and a 3v gt. I know what i got rid of, and i know what i bought.

    CAI and Tune 3v can't hang with this cobalt.

  • well then your mustang must have been weak from the factory. was it custom tuned? or just the tune off the xcal. I also have the JLT II CAI which produces the most HP for the 3v CAI. Also if you know so much about mustangs why didnt u keep them instead of goin with chevy. A cobalts a girls car badasses like you shouldnt be driving it.

    This WAS my gt. Don't have it anymore. Traded off for the 2008 turbo cobalt ss. . . better gas mileage, wayyyyyy better handling, and it was hard to pass up a 100k mile warranty.

  • Do your research, and you'll find that it's not. Stock for stock, it's better than the 3v gt in MANY aspects, except in the 1/4 mile. Hahn Racing has already got one to go 13.2 at 104mph with only a 3 inch catback, and a re-tune. Stock tires, suspension, and everything else.

  • I dont doubt its performance but it doesnt nearly look or sound as good as the GT. Plus I dont see to much potential ur going to get out of a NON-naturaly aspirated supercharged GM 2L 4 banger w/out it getting ridiculously expensive? no disrespect but shoulda stayed w the GT

    I loved my gt, but it wouldn't be able to touch the STOCK handling ability of this car, even have many suspension mods.

    I feel like it's a better car overall. . performance is much more rounded, and build quality already seems to outdue the mustang, which had interior rattles at 5k miles. The mustang was great, but dollar for dollar, the cobalt is surpassing my expectation, both in the pocket book, and on the performance side. It'll never have the look or sound though.
