I been hep to Yorkville label long enough - Ronnie Hawkins etc. But this one is one of it's the greatest releases for all times. Regards to Your Father, whereever He is and thanks for posting such a gem!
Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll. Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll
So much great garage & psych coming outta Canada during the 60s. Are there Canadian only comps out there that I'm missing? Please respond if ya know. Also, check out TOKENHIPPIES54 for more cool Canadian sides.
These guys started off as "The Secrets" & had a big hit with a tune called "Here Comes SHACK" about Eddie Shack of The Toronto Maple Leafs. They were our label mates on "Yorkville Records" in 1967 & did this tune as an answer to our first hit "Nothin".
5 Star! Gotta love the Yorkville sound! Amazing fuzz and Farfisa vibrato to lift one's spirits. It kinda sounds like "Don't bring me down" by the Animals in certain parts of the song, doesn't it? I have heard this song on the Pebbles "Highs of the Sixties", but this version is much cleaner than my old copies, so thanks for the sharing!
Sounds like 'Don't bring me down' and 'Kicks' rolled into one song.
