Truth 7501: chris rock is WACK. He is nothing but a negro comedian. He said, sense Black men have dated outside the race, Black women should consider it. He should have advocated a greater unity and cooperation between Black women and men. Sellout bitch he is. What is on your head is a reflection of what is in your head.

yes, i was quite shocked that chris rock's final message was NOT that his daughter's natural hair (or anyone's for that matter) is perfect as is, that she (we) didn't need to alter it in order to be beautiful.
Chris Rock is Hollywood I wouldn't expect an in depth or critical analysis from anything Hollywood. It cares only about the mighty dollar. I certainly agree that we need better media representation globally. Black Embarrassment Television (BET) certainly won't do that for us. We'll have better and more affirming images of ourselves once we control our own images and media outlets. Great vid, thanks for sharing. Be blessed.
Point is attack women to weaken their men! If the black woman doesn't love herself, then man who she raises doesn't value his counter part! Yes the brainwash propaganda is now rooted in marketing their products and owning our money!
beautifully spoken. I have the same sentiments on this film. I didn't invest money in supporting such work because my intuition knew that it was gonna be of no value as a platform to the real issue at hand from his numerous tv appearances.
Wasn't BET a form of independent black media. But the owner sold out to the white man and now its just more ignorant garbage that is hurting black people even more. So how do we stop the same thing from happening if we create another BET type station?
i feel yall but then again i kinda dont. im 100% natural i have locs myself. and i dont understand wanting 2 cater 2 the european look either. but when Chris Rock said its not as important whats on ya head than whats in ya head. thats true! because think about it...if they educate themselves enough to realize the bad that perms etc. do 2 u. then theyll go natural u feel me?
Initially, I had the same reaction to that part of their critique too. But I think to tell a child that 'it doesn't matter...' dismisses the need for introspection, the need for us to ask ourselves why we are privileging non-african beauty as african people. And actually, it's a naive statement. It should be true that 'its not as important whats on ya head than whats in ya head' but we can't lie to our kids and tell them that it is. Have to actively promote an african p.o.v. to african children
You are the truth the down-side is that he did not ask why? especially to those women whom were in the Holly wood light. Remember when the black man buying the hair said that Vivica Fox did not like the Indian Remy she liked the Persian or something to that magnitude, lol the vendors face cracked it was evident that he was offended, lol ironic hunh
my sentiments exactly Make It Plain. the subject of the movie had so much untouched potential that it did not capitalize on. he NEVER gave context as to who told us we had bad hair in the first place. and he gave the impression like going natural wasn't even the respectable alternative. he just left the "natural hair is unprofessional" conclusion from the miseducated high school girls resonating in the air....
yeah, disappointing...blackpowermedia is sooo necessary
I haven't watched the movie but I know why Chris Rock never went into the who taught us our hair is bad hair. He benefited from exploiting his own people and it doesn't work for him to put any blame on the white mans mental conditioning of blks
I was feeling some type of way when the Asian guy turned down the black hair Chris was trying to sell. It's messed up because the black girl with the Asian guy was condoning it.
The movie to me was very eye opening, informative, and comical. I learned how much the Indian women are misled. It makes me so sad.....almost guilty (even though I don't wear weave).
"He never asked WHY?!" Did you even watch the entire movie or did you go out to get popcorn during the part where they discussed how many women are trying to appeal to a white ideal of beauty by chemically straightening their hair and wearing these long fake weaves?
Either way, this movie is for entertainment purposes, it's not a comedian's job to preach to people about what they do with their hair and why.
Oh, you must be referring to the first 5 minutes of "historic contextualization" where they talked about light skin and straight hair as being valued by the Black community. yeah. saw that part.
@blahblahblahman Wrong, wrong, wrong! Chris Rock sold out once again. He used the psychological frailties and inferiority complexes of black women to make a show to mainstream society and get rich. That was the REAL purpose of the movie, get Chris rich by making a display of Black people's desire to look white! He could have told the truth that our women were taught they were not naturally beautiful so they go to crazy extremes to change their hair. He'd rather get money.
Oh, I already know that Chris Rock is full of shit and that he doesn't give a crap about black women and their hair. He didn't even bother to show the "natural" side of the story; black women who wear their NATURAL hair. He's a fucking sell out.
I don't see why he had to make a mockery of black women who want to straighten their hair or wear extensions. It was a total embarrassment. No other race of women are mocked or criticized for their decision to enhance or alter their hair.
When i saw the movie trailer for good hair i already knew that it was not going to show the real issues on this inferiority complex, now that i saw the full movie i was on point.
I thought the film gave examples of non-natural styles and the mindset of those seeking the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow known as "Good Hair." AKA--brainwashing!
good hair was ok i especially liked when they did the SH experiment with the can and the chicken then flipped the image to show relaxer in the child's hair. The mothers and beauticians beamed with pride and didn't see anything wrong with it. No natural women were interviewed...so the film was skewed. We would rather champion weaves than our own hair. Raven was serious about that business.
Most definitely need a conglomerate of Indy Black Media to show real stories.
1 woman was interviewed but the snippets probably equal up to 1 - 3 mins. Seriously. There was a girl with an afro but she wasn't given the chance to speak while her peers were allowed to verbally abuse her and put her down.
I watched w/ my family. It was sad, all they got out of it was that they needed some Indian hair & r saving money 2 by it. The saddest part was when my sister said that she wouldn't go natural b/c natural hair can't be combed.
Independent black media NOW THAT IS A GOOD IDEA (BINGO!)

Even when it was black-owned in the later years it turned to crap. It became more focused on music and youth.
