I love this movie. This has more depth to than the american version but both are really good movies. Ballroom dance movies are some of my favorites, as well as foriegn films. So this hits alll my buttons."Strictly Ballroom" is another of my favorites.

This is one of my favorite movies. The Japanese version is much better than the American one

I love this movie.

But while watching it, I was also aware that Yakusho Koji who stars in this movie and Takenaka Naoto who plays the crazy guy with the wig have also portrayed Miyamoto Musashi and Toyotomi Hideyoshi respectively, two very important figures in Japanese history.

So when the two of them were dancing in the bathroom together I had an extra laugh most people might not have had. It's almost akin to seeing George Washington and Abraham Lincoln dirty dancing in a barn.

@JerridPayne Uhhh... not true. I watched it in my Japanese class and we all loved it. There are 4 Koreans and me, the only actual Japanese person. Everyone else (about 20 people) is white/black/hispanic/whatever and they loved it. The remade version is shit. It's a fact.

@JerridPayne I actually watched the Japanese version during college in my intro to Asian Movie class which had only six Asians which all happened to be Koreans in a class of 48 students. At that time all six of us though the movie was just okay when most of the other students liked or even loved it. Not to say that this Japanese version is bad but i said what i said because some remakes are so bad to a point that it make the original that much better.
