This is Plan FUNNY! Sam is so into culture and stuff lol and its so bad haha! poor guy thinks Rudolf Nureyev i like the most not so odd guy that he makes every one be so culture like haha! He even kicks Rudolf out not knowing it was him!
Don't you love how Link just shoves and smacks Piggy with his shield? Probably one of the few times he's gotten away with abusing her without getting Karate Chopped.
@ohjohny That may be quite true, ohjohny. You see, before this episode aired- it was rather hard for the Jim Henson crew to find guest stars for the show. When they did get someone it was usualy through personal links with those celebrities, and huge pay checks to them afterwards. Once the world-famous ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev made an appearance on the show, from then on it was MUCH easier to get guest stars. All they had to do was ask, and it wasn't that expensive.
I think it's a running gag, maybe? Getting all the "cultur'l stuff mixed up and stuff" - Verdi, Rossini, Strauss, Wagner, Mozart [Le Nozze, btw., not DG], Opera/Ballet etc.
Aww, poor Sam! Did anyone think that Rudolf Nureyev's pants look rather tight for a children's show? I also thought that Dr. Teeth's arms are too long for his body?
1- this is not a children's show. 2- he's a ballet dancer, dur tight pants come with the job. 3- Dr. Teeth's arms are always like that- he's a freaking puppet. Dur.

Guess that's whats made it so unpretentious. That it was basically designed for Adults doesnt mean that one can't change the attitude throughout several seasons!
Oops. He's a ballet dancer!

I heard that after Rudey appeared on the show people were asking to become guest stars more frequently. Is that true?
NaiTaiDai 10 months ago 3
@NaiTaiDai
That's true. Before Nureyev, the previous guests were there mostly because they owed someone a favor or something.

Whoever this "Giuseppe Wagner" is should be sued for so blatantly plagiarizing Don Giovanni and dressing the characters up in viking costumes.

How come everybody announcing that the Muppet show isn't a childrens show?
Is that just because it had the bandwidth to enatertain adults too?

It's because Jim Henson himself stated that he designed the show for adults.

The thing with Teeth's arms were done on purpose so Henson could work the Dr Teeth puppet while another performer worked the arms.
