How could anyone call a show like this sinful which I have heard many people say? It is SO happy and joyous and meaningful and this version captures that whole attitude 100% correctly. Well done!
@ryandvy1 this show has an open script, and it is not always put on people that show the proper regard for the material in it so it comes across as almost blasphemous because the actors have a lot of freedom in what they say script wise
@Bakukhan It isn't a complexity issue. It was cut from the original cast recording and the movie. Some people don't think the song works with the rest of the show. I agree.
@tjordan78 I was in a community theatre group for kids age 2 through college age. Our older kids did godspell and we managed to pull off Tower of Babble. Tower of Babble is a fitting song when you think of it. The point that babble gets across is that Jesus came to unite everyone, a sort of 'we are all one in him message'.
@TheChristianFairy Right, well as I said it was an artistic choice. Again, it is the only song where the cast is not playing their "roles" in the show. It is a prologue, but not essential to the show. It is undeniably different from all the other songs in the show...
By the way I would love to see a production of Godspell done by 2 year olds!
@tjordan78 Haha, well, some productions were put on by one specific age group and other productions were put on by the whole group as a whole. Godspell was put on a group of middle school, high school, and college age kids. We have three groups: one that's for the ages of 2-8, another for the ages of roughly about 9-12, and a third, final group for ages 13+. Godspell was put on by the 13+ group. Our production of Sound of Music used children of all ages (our gretel was so cute!)
Wow! I did not see that coming! I'm kind of glad that's not how I did the baptizing in the version I was in. I wouldn't have been able to hold a straight face.
@stitch99 isn't that the point of the show?? to depict the joy and happiness and childlikeness of the early christians? so u don't have to hold a straight face. its probably better if you don't!!
I don't like his voice

why didn't it start with the intro song?
ipwnnoobzinthebut 9 months ago
@ipwnnoobzinthebut It is often deleted from the production.

@ipwnnoobzinthebut the first opening song is super hard to do and most directors just cut it off
