when golbez first appears and this play I thought he would be cool and evil. Then you fight him and he turns out to be a wimp. Then you find out he has servants that are way stronger than him. Then FuSoYa tells you he isnt even the main villian. Then he hides behind some security orb like a pussy. then he starts crying because you ruined his plan. Then he becomes a good guy because all along he was just a puppet.
Not a good villian at all. Only thing he has is great theme music.
@DFLOODyeaa What are you talking about? Golbez decimates your entire party with a summon of Shadow Dragon, and is only able to be beaten/hurt after Tellah casts Meteor at the cost of his own life. The only villain who's actually handed an entire party such a serious ass-whooping in the canon story since FFIV was Kuja after casting Meteor.

@xannonryuri You never REALLY defeat Golbez. The fact that he was never truly a 'villain' by conventional terms doesn't even slightly diminish his sheer badassery. In addition, the two voice actors who played him (Anthony Landor in the DS remake, and Peter Beckman in Dissidia) both provided fantastically appropriate voices for him.
Wouldn't it have been cool if the Warriors of Chaos in Dissidia got theme music to play during certain cutscene points? I mean, Golbez has this, Sephiroth has 'Those Chosen By The Planet', Exdeath has 'The Evil Lord Exdeath'...
Hell, Ultimecia got a subtle snippet from the start of 'The Extreme' during the scene before Squall's battle against her in the Destiny Odyssey.
This theme pronounces, with powerful chords, one element that I believe makes a great game: hate-able enemies, Golbez, while he's evil, really is evil. classic stuff.
So, Golbez survived an ultra powerful Meteor, his Eidolon being killed, getting his butt handed to him on a plate by the party, getting Meteored again by Zeromus and takes 100% pwnage from Cecil's Doppleganger.

That's because part of this music is practically ripped from the Fugue of Toccata and Fugue in D MInor, the Toccata being used for the classic Dracula films.

Kefka sucks, Kuja and Sephiroth are superior. The only reason fanbys seem to love Kefka so much is because he reminds them of the Joker..now, I've never personally been a fan of Batman or The Joker for that matter, Kefka is just lame, if you disagree with me, you're pretty lame too. The ONLY time Kefka was even slightly cool was when he transformed at the end of the game, and the final boss battle..everything leading up to that was shit. Sephiroth owns him.

first of all kefka is not lame. he developed into a god unlike most FF Villians who started out ridiculously powerful. When he was first introduced i felt myself as a person could kick his ass. Sephiroth showed none of those traits at all. He simply has a fascination with Jenova's deeds.

And actually, Sephiroth took control over Jenova's body, using it as his avatar while he gains his strength in the Great Northern Crater. His plan was to lure Cloud to him with the Black Materia. Which he did. He made Jenova appear like himself, knowing that it would drive Cloud to seek him out.

John wayne gacey was a victim too,he was beaten by his father and threatened and this made him feel weak so he took it out on the weak.

Examples:darth vader was an interesting character because he turned to the dark side and later on we get a glimpse that he himself realizes he is a weak spirited person easily influenced by power and he takes the easy way out.
Luca blight from suikoden 2 is another example:he saw his mother raped and killed and he got the image in his head that might is right.

Manipulated the characters to bring him the Black Materia, and would have succeeded in becoming
a god if not for the posthumous intervention of Aerith. If not for Aerith, he would have returned as the Lifestream was gathering to the wound in the Planet and, because he was a part of the Lifestream, would be revived and with the power of a god.
As I said, every villain has their strengths and weaknesses. Let's just drop this. I'm not saying Sephiroth is the best villain and I'm not saying he's the worst. Simply that he has his moments that make him a decent villain.

Games like:ultima underworld you can literally destroy the world and be a specialist in any type of any sort of weapons and you got a huge amount of magic.
In fact.look at ultima 7 which came out in 1992 and serpents isle is one of the most popular in the series and has a new expansion upon it.

Dragon Age: Origins, Radiata Stories, FF1-12, Chrono Trigger/Cross, Legend of Dragoon, Shadow Heart series (Koudelka and Shadow hearts games), Wild ARMs, Nier, Lost Odyssey, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Tales of series, some Castlevania games... And that's all I can think of off the top of my head..

Side games are optional if you dont like them you dont have to do them so why pay for them with expansions when they are already free ?

The game has good ideas but its definitely flawed,and i played most of the game and i really really fucking tried but its one of those games that sucks out my desire to play it.
It is probably one of the reasons i can't stand some turn based jrpgs anymore.

You can get ultima meteor etc form 2 islands, just run around the edge of the islands (island closest to heaven and island closest to hell) with encounter 0 on and get it all.

@BlazeIgnitus you have the fallout series which also startted a long time ago and the elder scrolls which also started a long time ago and gave you huge amounts of gameplay to influence the story.
These types of games give you a sort of gameplay that some kinds of games don't:interactive ability to include your made character in the story and ability to make deciesions that lead you to good or evil and huge amount of customization and exploration.
If there was a list that was like, "you know you're a badass if..." This would totally be on the list. "You know you're a badass if Golbez Clad in Dark plays when you enter a room."
well considering chuck norris is an actor and an okay martial artist and golbez is a semi-all powerful sorceror with epic mind control powers and triple layered full plate armor....I'd say the fight would be pretty one-sided

This is a great theme, but in my opinion, and against the opinion of those sephiroth fans you guys thought would post here, Kefka is the most unique, insane, evil villain there was. And his theme just suits him so much, that creepy, psycho type music, its awesome!
No matter how many times this track is remade it can't touch this; The original.
Golbez was truly an underrated antagonist, and near the end in the Nintendo DS remake, you get to see how twisted Zemus truly was and how twisted he made Golbez.

@xannonryuri You never REALLY defeat Golbez. The fact that he was never truly a 'villain' by conventional terms doesn't even slightly diminish his sheer badassery. In addition, the two voice actors who played him (Anthony Landor in the DS remake, and Peter Beckman in Dissidia) both provided fantastically appropriate voices for him.

Kefka sucks, Kuja and Sephiroth are superior. The only reason fanbys seem to love Kefka so much is because he reminds them of the Joker..now, I've never personally been a fan of Batman or The Joker for that matter, Kefka is just lame, if you disagree with me, you're pretty lame too. The ONLY time Kefka was even slightly cool was when he transformed at the end of the game, and the final boss battle..everything leading up to that was shit. Sephiroth owns him.

The Oedipus Complex argument is typically used by overzealous Kefka fans who, more often than not, are the ones to start the whole Sephiroth vs. Kefka feud in a vid. I've gone through several vids, and in the majority of them I've seen the argument started by Kefka fans. Yes, Sephiroth fans have started them as well.
Regardless, I'm a fan of all villains, seeing them all as good villains in their own right.

Examples:darth vader was an interesting character because he turned to the dark side and later on we get a glimpse that he himself realizes he is a weak spirited person easily influenced by power and he takes the easy way out.

First:make the actual game without the sidegames and then add new expansions or new remake in the future with new stuff.
The sidegames are also awful,plus:you take out the need to level and just run around lvl 10 and with that 0 encounter rate.

Side games are optional if you dont like them you dont have to do them so why pay for them with expansions when they are already free ?

In one video i saw of someone bashing ff7,there was a quote of something possibly of bad review for silent hill origins.

The game has good ideas but its definitely flawed,and i played most of the game and i really really fucking tried but its one of those games that sucks out my desire to play it.
It is probably one of the reasons i can't stand some turn based jrpgs anymore.

I have the garden ship thing,and now i'm travelling mostly to get ap since its inefficient.
I was also collecting spells for my junctions since most of the really good spells cannot be accesed yet like:flare and ultima.
I got curagas and i don't have i think it was quick or something like that which is supposed to be really good with junction.
The biggest fucking pain in my ass is that i accidentally spread a rule i hate.

You can get ultima meteor etc form 2 islands, just run around the edge of the islands (island closest to heaven and island closest to hell) with encounter 0 on and get it all.

@BlazeIgnitus you have the fallout series which also startted a long time ago and the elder scrolls which also started a long time ago and gave you huge amounts of gameplay to influence the story.
These types of games give you a sort of gameplay that some kinds of games don't:interactive ability to include your made character in the story and ability to make deciesions that lead you to good or evil and huge amount of customization and exploration.

LOL! Can Chuck cast wall? Yep! The wall spell, a few potions, and some round-house kicks...Golbez would turn in to a hand and run away though.

well considering chuck norris is an actor and an okay martial artist and golbez is a semi-all powerful sorceror with epic mind control powers and triple layered full plate armor....I'd say the fight would be pretty one-sided

So you're referring to the real Chuck Norris, but the fictional Golbez? If you did the fictional Chuck Norris (I.E. Roundhouse kick = wiped from History), Chuck Norris would win, or if you did the real Golbez, who is just a bit of data in a Super Nintendo cartridge, Chuck Norris would still win. =)

This is a great theme, but in my opinion, and against the opinion of those sephiroth fans you guys thought would post here, Kefka is the most unique, insane, evil villain there was. And his theme just suits him so much, that creepy, psycho type music, its awesome!

Golbez is one of the first villains that defines "badass" in RPG i mean.. everytime Golbez appears in the game he basically raped the entire party.

No matter how many times this track is remade it can't touch this; The original.
Golbez was truly an underrated antagonist, and near the end in the Nintendo DS remake, you get to see how twisted Zemus truly was and how twisted he made Golbez.
