Are there any more of these spots on here? I know Steve Somer (promotion guru) showed one of these at a promotion convention I attended "back in the day"
I'm Dungeness Crab in this series of commercials. I can't believe it's been almost 30 years. I remember we filmed late at night on this, the 1st in the series (filmed in mid-Dec '80). We had a blast and never imagined they would be so popular. The cast and crew were all fantastic on all the multiple commercials. We did print ads, radio voice-overs, Sea Fair parade & personal appearances at award shows. It was hard to walk in the flippers! What a treat to know they're preserved.
This spot was directed by the great Tom MacNeal of Northstar Productions in Seattle. Shot by Kip Anderson. I saw this spot and hired them both to do many NBC Sports promotional spots in 1980's and '90's. They won a National Sport Emmy for Cinematography for their opening film for the League Championship Series. They are two of the finest (and funniest) creatives I ever had the pleasure of working with.
I grew up in Seattle area and totally remember this commercial. We drove past a Sea Galley in Yakima today on a road trip and I started singing the song, my hubby thought it was hilarious and about died watching this video. Thanks for posting lol!!
Cult classic--that's for sure! I applied for my first job there and Plush Pippin across the street in University Place (Tacoma). Got the job at the Plush, but had a great date once at Sea Galley! Love it!
I had to share this commercial with my East Coast husband, after a reference on Deadliest Catch that I found hilarious, and he didn't get. I don't even remember the restaurant, but I can still sing the song!
Thanks for the memories...it's been at least 20+ years since we would drive down to Bellingham Washington for a crab leg feast. Still remember all the words!!
It's been over 25 years since I last saw this commercial, but I've always remembered it. I ate at Red Lobster tonight and thought of it, and what a surprise to see it on You Tube!
I am so happy to be able to show this commercial to my Wisconsin bred husband and children for they have suffered with me singing the crazy crab leg song for years and years and years. It's like I get to prove to them that I didn't make up the silly crab leg song myself.
OMG!!! THis kills me. I worked for Sea Galley for 8 years. It was my first job and I was there until the shut their doors. It was sad and I love their food. I wish I could still have some. I even work those crab legs one night when there was a hockey game across the street! I will never forget Sea Galley!!
hey there is a new facebook page coworkers and friends from Sea Galley in Spokane- I started in Walla Walla and then worked 4 years in Spokane-88-92 or 93 Christopher Gardner find me on facebook
There is only one Sea Galley left in the United States, and my dad owns it. It's in Yakima, Washington. I work there every day doing janitorial and bussing. He still runs this commercial sometimes locally.
I've been to that Sea Galley, and it is WONDERFUL! My brother and I really miss having them in the Seattle area. I hope your dad is making big money from it!
Hard to tell because the quality is so shitty, but isn't that Bill Nye on the left? I always hated this commercial.

Another series of commericals I'd like to see would be the Olympia Beer commericals, and the old codger talking about the Artesians, "I seen 'em!"

YES!!! It's good to see some of the old commercials from when I was a kid. Nothing like growing up in Washington to warp you permanently.
