  • very nice :)))

in the UK it is mk6 and in Ireland probably too.

in the another countries:German, Spain, Poland etc. mk7

  • @radekbox There never was a MK7..... even on the ford site there never was.... I owned a 95 MK5B escort i was also on a few Escort enthusiast websites and they all said the same..... Ford never made a MK7 escort.........

  • @rvsgamer mine is too an mk7 the mk6 is used only in GB here in europe you have mk7

  • HI there, that day the video was shot,I was there in ODI,i just want to know,I have the same colour escort and also 1996 mk6 1.6sport,I'm shopping around for the other 2.0 zetec ,did you fit the Silver or the Black top ? and At cold start, does the 2.0 still have the problem of the 1.6 that it struggles to idle unless you use a 0-30 or -40 oil ? I'm using 0-40 mobile one ,but at R350 for 4l Its quite expensive

  • The engine is a silver top out of a Mondeo, with a black top cover.

Internally it is all silver top, ie. Hydraulic lifters and composite gasket instead of the metal gasket of the later black top engine. For protection the block was o-ringed, and conrod bolts replaced with ARP bolts. I did not have any idling problems when cold as I was running a SDS standalone management system which I could program myself, home made intake manifold etc.

  • In the 6years I ran the engine the only problems I had were the valve springs (Kent) that broke while running in the car,(never exceeded 4k), and normal wear and tear on the turbo.. THAT'S IT! The guy I sold the car to is still running it without any changes or problems.

  • 0rian007 is correct - lots of people not too sure about MK 6 or not - this is a MK 6 for sure.

  • no such thing as a Mk7. its a common misconception. i have a Mk6 too, looks exactly like that, but i have a long boot.

  • wow an escort that moves! What did you do for the ecu?

  • I think he was using the SDS system

  • sold it? :O who would sell a escort like that!! xD

  • He was busy with a turbo conversion on a 1.8 Zetec a while ago - never finished it as he sold the MK6 to the person he was helping building the 1.8.

  • daaamn! thats alot of work an money! il better start saving money hehe.. was the 2 litre stock in that mk6?

  • No, I think they only came in 1.4, 1.6 & 1.8. The 2.0 was stock in the Mondeo.

  • Apologies - had power figures incorrect.

299 kw/ 431nm at the wheel on normal pump fuel last time out on dyno, and this is not one of those "look how much power I can make on a dyno" type of cars.
