J'ai assisté à La Première au Grand Théâtre à Genève et ai admiré la voix superbe de Joyce DiDonato. Elle a été très applaudie. Mais malheureusement les costumes étaient lamentables !
A gorgeous voice! But, isn't this a very slow Tanti Affetti? You must hear Marilyn Horne and Montserrat Caballe in their younger days to truly appreciate this aria.
While there may be more subjectively ~interesting~ voices that have sung this, objectively speaking this is by far the most vocally and musically PERFECT version of this aria i have ever heard. Very few singers ever, ever achieve this level of skill. One of the only other instances I've heard like this is Beverly Hoch's Proch variations.
non fa per niente rimiagere quelle del passato! Anzi....meglio della Cuberli imprecisa(ascoltare per credere)e della Anderson noisa e fuori forma alla Scala!
Brava, Joyce!! I must admit that I don't care a bit for this staging and the changes it wrought on the story line, but there is no denying that this is a magnificent aria sung by the premier Rossini interpreter of our time!
I was there yesterday night, and this Tanti affetti was AMAZING. Absolutely blow-minding. What a singer. I'm really looking fwd to seeing her in this role again in Paris!

Fantastic! Thank heavens for DiDonato. It's such a relief to hear a fine bel canto artist. There are so many bel canto "posers" these days.

@AiTaiwandeRen AMEN on all of this. Ugh, I really am getting sick of all the posers too.

The staging is STUPID.
But Didonato's singing is STUPENDOUS. Thank God!
I love her in this role. I hope the staging improves in Paris.
