  • I think there used to be a boutique in the Kings Rd called Kaiser Bill's batman, but as I'm a senile old wreck Icould be wrong.

  • Proper nuts!

  • Hard to whistle along while drinking Jack Daniels but still I try.

  • Is it me or does this guy look like Christian Bale? Especially at 1:54

  • Semmilyen más dal nem tudja elhomályosítani!

  • Kinda odd miming to a whistling tune!

  • This is the song that i know all the words too!.. "Oi"

  • It always amused Me that a simple Two letter word(Oi!)forbade this track to officially be classed as an instrumental.

  • That's amazing. I counted six whistling Jack Smith's there. Fantastic.

  • His name is John O'Neil and he was the one that whistled the famous theme from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly :D

  • Hero. His moves at 1:07-1:14 crack me up every time, and the camera effects thereafter are genius.

  • TheNamron55= You should try Google lyrics. Maybe you can figure it out I couldn't. Breath control & a cleft palate let me down

  • Who wrote the Lyrics for this?

  • @TheNamron55 It was Franz Kafka

  • @kopfrepublik Nah. Kafka wasn't QUITE that funny.

  • My wife is a first grade teacher. She plays this song each day when it is time for the kids to clean-up and get ready to go home. They love it. Really.

  • If this is John O'Neill, he certainly doesn't look 40 or 41 years of age at the time this clip was recorded.

  • I don't want to hear another word about "music back in my day".

  • omfg i remember this haha how could it be a no 1 in england is unreal but still a clasic hahaha

  • No it was my Dad, John O'Neill, see news of the world expse on the contract trick that EMI played.

  • Ah yes, when I used to go see Whistlin' Jack at The Beat Club....!!!!

  • 51 people cant whistle

  • Csodálatos!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • They were always playing this when I used to go and see Chelsea. Of course they had a greyhound track around the pitch then. If anyone scored at the Bovril End, they had to pass details down verbally as it was like watching tiny matchstick men from our end! Happy Days!

  • Whenever I try whistling this song down the pub and leaping about like he does, they threaten me with the Police. It just shows you, there is one rule for 1960's whistling pop stars and one rule for the rest of us.

  • How do Tab for whistling looks? I think i´ts funny.......LOL.

  • Dude, Do you have the tab for this ........? This makes all those shred licks, sweep arpeggios, and tapping sound dated - like they came from the 80s or something. Oh wait they did - now only if all the youtube wanker shredders would realize this.

  • great stuff!,reminds me of wimbledon stadium in the 1970s and the hot rod racing!,ahh! the good old days wiyhout a doubt!!!

  • I'VE heard this tune. didn't know the name till now.

  • bloody great thanks for the post of i go whisting bill lol

  • what really pisses me off is some of the stupid idiotic moronic comments people have put on about this if you dont like it then dont bother listening to it but most of us do enjoy listening so keep your pathetic comments to yourselves

  • @gibson1973100 Well said ! Couldn't agree with you more.

  • @gibson1973100 As I recall, they used to run some really good WWII film with this sometimes - or am I 'losing it?' LOL

  • Jaysus that takes me back.

  • ok it's a bit like watching thunderbirds doing the old grey whistle test but hey could that man do COOL. Catchy tune and so feel good it makes ya wanna do that dance. Fab posting.

  • How easily pleased we were.

  • @LindaLooUK Linda can I say I was in fact deeply disappointed and ever so slightly intimidated by this guy.

  • I think he was just taking the piss out out of all of you that paid good money in those days to buy crap music...just because you thought you should!

He probably made a few quid as well!!

  • @robertwiltshire It isn't crap ..it's a brilliant original song from the greatest era ever ..Music today is GARBAGE .I wouldn't trade this single tune for every single CD you own

  • @Recordbhoy I never said it was crap. I searched for it here because I wanted to hear it again. Perhaps if you take the time to read my comments a couple of times it might become clear what I was trying to say!

By the way I think you might just be envious of my extensive and diverse CD collection. Cheers.

  • ÖRÖKZÖLD SZÁM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He's either gay as hell or English. oh, wtf...HE'S BOTH!

  • @Greasydawg A little from column a and a little from column b

  • BigEricHunt, you're right! - thank you. I thought this guy was John O'Neill (1926-1999); but instead he's Billy Moeller (1946-). Weird - 2 guys took full credit for writing the melody of this lyric-less song, even though it's clearly a pop version of the Pennsylvania Polka.

  • The guy is a toss-pot of the highest order but I feel drawn to him - I am going to hell aren't I ?

  • @MsMrReason Yep. :D

  • @LindaLooUK Save a seat for me then Linda -You will recognise me as I will be whistling this tune and wearing medals that I have not earned on my chest.

  • TV show music was always lip-synced back then (for best broadcast quality, versus a live mix). A lot of you have criticized this guy, but if you were hired to lipsync a whistling song on TV, could you do any better? This guy was age 40 at the time and I don't think anyone could have done better; he's quite an entertainer - that doesn't mean I like this :)

  • @CheckAvai1abi1ity This guy wasn't 40. He was in his early 20s. His brother was the lead singer of Unit 4 + 2 (of "Concrete and Clay" fame).

  • @BigEricHunt I liked them but I will still download this. You know if he was on BGT he would be buzzed off in the first ten seconds.

  • who remembers this song being used in a british t.v. ad the words were............... never wash up, never wash up,never wash up without brillo !!!!!!

  • @deejaydallas This just gets funnier! - wow: "Never wash up without Brillo." I'm lovin' it! Thanx.

  • I just checked this out on Wikipedia. The guy in the video didn't actually do the whistling. So he's not even a cunt in his own right.

  • Comment removed

  • @BigEricHunt I wonder what his medals are for - I guess dick-headiness, fuck-wizardry and being the world's biggest delusional fanny. On a lighter note he looks a bit like a young Jim Dale.

  • wot a total nob head, yogi bear in uk

  • I love this my ma use to listen to it when i was younger <3

  • O'm'gosh! Did you all realize that the melody he's whistling is the "Pennsylvania Polka?"

  • this is hilarious

  • 48 people dont know how to whistle.

  • lol he looks like a very young Richard Gere in a bad Beatle wig and stupid jacket.

  • Szenzációs!!!!!!!!!!

  • angriffeins Couldn't agree with you more. This video is a double hit of dumb. When I was a kid I really liked this tune, but I don't anymore.

  • i came back to this video to apologize for my earlier comment and to rephrase is it by saying this sucks so much ass!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this blows :/

  • So catchy and melodic song, an Mozart quality of songwriting. Who made this song? Some great artist, Who is that?

  • @Aggaluq The Ram Jam Band!

  • @Aggaluq The melody he's whistling is a pop version of the Pennsylvania Polka! Type "Pennsylvania Polka" in YouTube's search-for-videos box so you can hear the original.

  • @CheckAvai1abi1ity Thank you. I found the Pennsylvanian polka on youtube and recognized that song who was an popular pop song in Iceland, with an lyric on icelandic language, in 1950s-´60s. I Thougt it was Icelandic song, just a lttle bit like this one.

  • Jó!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nagyon jóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóóó!!!

  • Funny how little this has dated.

  • I wonder if he knows the Russian lololololol guy?

  • Nice tune, gotta give this guy credit, I hope he made alot of $ for this.

    7-29-11

  • ..the good ol´ times with LSD......!

  • Who says white dudes can't dance

  • Nagyon aranyos szám! Köszi annak ki feltette!

  • Well there you go - you try to leave a sensible comment and there's always an anonymous twat like blue4everdave to leave stupid comments. Well done Dave .. you must have been a big disappoinment to your Mother.

  • :-)

  • Although this looked silly, many 70's styles were worse and dropped like a brick in a tar pit (happily never to surface again).

  • Nothing aged faster than 1960's clothes fashion and hair styles. It all looks so very dated, more than a little camp, and totally ridiculous. and I'm somewhat embarrased to say that I remember this song and this performance. I was 13 at the time and and thought it was "really groovy man". Thanks for posting it - if only to serve as a warning not to bring back the 60's ... It's horrible! :-)

  • @glyn001

  • Csodálatos a szám,és a klipp is!!!

  • Who WAS Kaiser Bill....and why Batman?

  • @catman5169 Kaiser Bill was the British nickname for Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany, monarch at the time of the First World War. The late 60s saw a youth fashion for things of the early 20th century (hence Sgt Pepper). Batman presumably doesn't refer to the superhero, but to the job title, a batman was a soldier given the job of personal assistant to a superior officer.

  • Tisztelt azitis!!! Köszönet ezért a számért!!!

  • Crazy but great !

  • Nagyon-nagyon tuti ez a szám!!! Köszönet érte!!!

  • Nagyon tuti ez a szám!!!

  • I'm sure they whistled this in that movie "ID" where they're all stood in a line at the urinal!

  • Wonder what those 'medals' are for on his chest. Must have been a war hero . . . lol

  • @angriffeins - you can legally (in the UK) wear real medals bought from a shop, even if you did not earn them - for decorative purposes so long as you do not intend to deceive people into thinking they are legit. The Beatles did it on Sgt Peppers album for example.

Related to this, while I doubt these are legit, there are medals awarded simply for seeing military service, long service (e.g. UK Meritorious Service Medal (MSM)) or for simply being wounded in battle (US purple heart for example).

  • Immediately feel like downloading this as perfect example of... a thing.. of its time... Urge suppressed - save bytes. It exists as conceptual art to me now. I've got it. ... Again.

  • After 40 seconds it becomes a tune worthy only to accompany a Circus performing number with dishes and bikes or seals and parrots

  • Nagyon-nagyon tuti ez a szám!!

  • Perhaps the best whistling tune of all time- right up there with The Mayberry Theme.

  • Somebody post the lyrics!

  • Got this as a ringtone on me phone. Everybody, & i mean EVERYBODY who hears it, starts whistling along to it..........Brilliant.

  • @ WitchesGate Whistler bloke is Billy Moeller and his brother Tommy is in Unit 4+2?

  • A mí Jack Smith me pone de los nervios.

  • Memories to my childhood!! Thanks for it!!

    Best wishes from germany

    Sgt.P.

  • nice

  • This is so uncool, it actually becomes cool!! Incidentally, work out the link between our whistler bloke, and 'Unit 4+2'.

  • @WitchesGate although he didn't perform on the record, our miming whistler - gotta give him points for enthusiasm - is Billy Moeller, sometime roadie for his brother Tommy's band Unit Four Plus Two who had a massive hit with Concrete And Clay.

  • haha this is like something you would do for a school project for shits and giggles

  • Everything about the pop sixties was really wonderful. Except this.

  • Comment removed

  • I would say that he is more like Russ Abbot than a young Dave Allen, just saying.......

  • This was used by Robbie Dale in 1967 as the theme tune to his Radio Caroline South show. Definitely of its time!

    Good fun though.

  • Whenever I feel really stupid, I watch this video. Makes me feel less stupid.

  • Totally Retarted...But Great!!!

  • @angriffeins lol that's harsh the guy has talent lol

  • @angriffeins i know exactly how you feel!

  • I've forgotten the words!

  • mad as a box of frogs love it

  • Whistle this song at work... Wait five minutes... No one can resist.

  • I think the actor did a fine job. I liked his dancing and his wit and enthusiasm.

  • In a scary way this actor is quite good!!!

  • dam imma be rich whistling one day. just watch... x)

  • When hearing this tune I can't help hearing the words

"Kermet the Frog got smacked in the gob

For messing around with Miss Piggy"

  • @wesmatron LOL

  • no, its sure old whistling jack.

  • How did all of you NOT know that it's Andy Kaufman? ;-)

    mz

  • Спасибо!!!

  • so theres no copyright infringement if I use this clips audio?

  • are you saying this guy is the milli vanilli of the 60s?????? why do people pull this crap ???? are we to be impressed and what about the actual artist who did record this song? doesn't anyone know the real facts behind this one?

  • The skynyrd version is alot better

  • that's one happy happy dude!!

  • I think this was a great novelty record but it doesn't translate to TV very well (that actor must've felt a right bowl-head). Our 60's band tried to cover the track but 1) It's hard to whistle down an SM58 and 2) we couldn't get as far as the harmonised bit without laughing...and you try whistling with the giggles, impossible.

  • Who was kaiser bill and why does he need a batman?

  • @markx64

Kaiser Bill was Kaiser Wilhem II, the last Emporer of Germany and King of Prussia. I am assuming "batman" in this case refers to the aide assigned to commissioned officers. Kaiser Bill's batman would have been his military aide/bodyguard during the first world war....assuming he actually had one.

  • Man, he looks like a young George W Bush!!

  • Доброе время, что вы думаете, по поводу хора свистунов?
