Amazing, amazing vid! I was at Kamakura last year where my mom and I visited the Great Buddha, eating some ice cream from the vendo machines along the way. It was a great experience. I remember standing right infront of the Buddha and felt, for the first time, being connected with the earth.
Oh btw, what's the title of this song? I know it's Jonsi, but I'm kind of doubtful it's his song Go Do.
is it possible to go there using public transit.. i am visiting in 2 weeks.. when i get off from kamakura jr station.. can i walk to these shrines? I am getting worried as i will be visiting by myself
If I recall correctly, I walked to both of these shrines and they are relatively close to each other. I don't remember exactly how to get there from the station but it was maybe a 15-20 minute walk or so...I think. I think there are signs that can point you in the right direction as well. Enjoy your trip!
@utubefcuked yes the train is the best way and it is only about a 15 to 20 min walk to the great budda it is an enjoyable walk, watch out for the tiny deer. bring some rice crackers for them. they will love you for it. enjoy your stay in japan
I visited this back in 1973 as a teenager---walked inside of the Great Buddha---tripped on the stairs and felt their was some significance to that. Haha.
@stellalunathatsme i was there about the same time when i visited the great budda i was stationed at yokohama shore patrol at the time. loved japan and especially the beauty of the country. especially in the rural areas in the country side and the mountains. climed fujiyama the same year, camped and fished at lake hakoni tried to get out of the city as much as possible to see the older japan.
I do believe you can go inside of the Great Buddha statue because its so large. I would guess that they are probably air vents or entrance windows. Glad you liked the vid!

Haha awesome! I wish I could've gone inside. It wasn't being offered that day or something.
