  • definition of "ninja".

  • Terrible salute, incredible performance.

  • his face is beyond hilarious, not to mention his cockyness

  • those fast sustained left hand strokes are so hard to do.

  • thats so awesome

  • @HULKA ,General Effect= GAY. The sheet says "individual judging is to select the contestant who displays the highest degree of technical ability"......................................DRUM

  • @DrummingLawyer I'd say Jeff demonstrated the highest degree of technical ability that year, without a doubt. Don't forget, under the content portion of the sheet it lists "emotion" and "expression" as well.

  • @hulka9396 I never said that he didn't deserve to win or that he didn't "display the highest degree of technical ability"

  • @DrummingLawyer That's what you were inferring with your previous statement.

  • the guy can DRUM....

  • LOLZ at the dance routine. But that was incredible playing...god damn dude

  • very good!!!!!

  • Great player no doubt but the antics make this kinda hard to watch. I'd say more drumming-less antics but the drumming is all there..................

  • There is a General Effect element to I&E competitions so the "antics", as you say, are part of the overall effect.

  • he's awesome, but he played the patriotic card so everyone falls for that. but even without that hes amazing

  • The "patriotic card" was symbolic of his current membership of The Hellcats of West Point. His entire solo was based the various lines he's marched.

  • Man I really want a Marching Snare of my own...

  • I wonder what these guys would sound like playing a real snare drum instead of a tin can ? I mean, this guy is great, but he's playing on a head that's tighter than a gnats ass stretched across a barrel.

  • @walkingman717 LMFAO

  • 2:39 was the best part

  • wow lefty chops much? nice

  • he got that good on his own. no divine intervention involved.

  • there is n possible way that every muscle in his body and in his brain did it alone... when you think about how cmplex the human body is and how amazing it is... how can it happen on accident?... its not possible for us just to be able to do things... there is no way it could happen on accident...

    JESUS LOVES YOU!!!!

  • can marching tricks and stuff like this be used on a drum set? I've never been in a marching band but play drums, and next year i was gonna try it out thats why im asking would playing drums in a marching band(snare or tenor drums) help with new ideas for the kit?

  • As a student that is studying to be a music teacher who has also played set and been in a marching band I can say that it would both improve your speed and technique.

  • paraddiddlediddles get so hard to play after 2 and a half minutes of straigth choppin lol

  • watsup with his harness?

  • Does anybody know about the metal sticks he started using at 1:56? Has an actual manufacturer started making those or are they still being hand-made in somebody's garage?

  • YES! that was incredible! the flag sticks were awesome.

  • That was EPIC!!!

  • woah.

    four words.

    bad ass mother fucker

  • Way to go Jeff. Excellent!

  • lmao dam that was badass

and BSkully1423, i couldnt have said it better myself

  • Wow, if I didn't know better, I'd think this video was sped up!

  • I just made it on to the drumline at my school im going to! Im only a freshman and I still have a lot to learn!

  • Okay, like seriously.....1:42-1:46 is the most effed up stuff I have ever seen. That is freakin' ridiculous.

MAD props to this guy, I couldn't even begin to try and throw down with that.

  • Ok, to the people that act like that horrible movie "DRUMLINE" is the way Rudimental drumming is supposed to look. Here is a new Role model for you. This is what being the very best at your art is all about. So, wake up. And, get out of that horrible "Drumline" The movie coma you've been in. Please!!! It's Pathetic. That movie alone put drumming back light years. The reason I say that, is there are too many kids that think that movie is the best of the best. And, just one thinking that is sad.

  • something to add to that nick cannon took 3 month to learn a double stroke roll so i dont think people would want to have him as a role model.

  • Totally agreed, but there is one thing you and I, or any of the marching percussion community for that matter, will never be able to change. There will always be show bands that perform to impress, without acknowledging rudimentary skills, sound quality, or mental focus.

For those that have marched/march, you understand. For those that don't, it's impossible to explain.

  • WTH!!!!

  • HOLY SHIT! AMAZING! i wish i was close to being that good.

  • Nobody's better at circus tricks than Cat Daddy.

  • I shat myself a couple, times

  • Just so you know Hulka, I am a Music City Mystique vet, and that is where the Musiccitysnare comes from. I know you are with Legend and I didn't want you confused as to which Legend member posted this. By the way I have seen part of Legend's book for this upcoming summer, and I have to give you props on the writing. I would march if I had more time and money.

  • Nice.. he has some hands for sure, and its nice to see someone who is and has adjudicated important events out and playing! Now where is Charlie Poole's DCA solo? lol

  • I wish they all used bright sticks.

  • What a great drummer!! I am not near as good as he is.

  • This guy is great...but his drum sounds terrible!

  • its the video

  • sweet beats, i want the last pair of sticks...lol

  • the feel is horrible, one of the music teachers at my school bought them when she went stateside, and they have this foil crap on them, they look good but dam they suck to play with! lol

  • This guy is awesome, pure and simple. But I have to say I've heard more musical solos (with poorer execution) and seen 'cooler' moves. He looks like he's having fun, but I don't know how much crossover appeal he could generate outside the drum corp community. Either way, as a drummer, I'm impressed.

  • I felt bad for the guy that went before him. Idk what corps he marched, but if you could imagine an 8th grader with a heavy hitter pad and SD-1 generals showing off his greatest "Drumline the Movie" skills..

well, that may have been less painful to watch. He does have guts though and that is very respectable.

  • I was there

    great hands. great showmanship

  • yea thats impressive, I guess... haha just kidding much respect goes out to him!

  • it is a marching snare

  • that is not a snare drum

  • Can't really judge based on the video. The camera used to record the video has a pretty bad mic and doesn't capture much else other than the top head contact sound. In the video from the same year my drum sounds nothing like it did live.

  • It's a high tension Snare, that's why.

  • Haha, I love Jeff Prosperie. It's hilarious to watch him run around while he's judging drum corps. He always gets himself into all kinds of tight situations.

  • Did Jason Parent lift that groove section in the middle from him, or vice versa?

  • Not sure. Prosperie was on staff at Regiment while Parent was marching so I'm sure there was some influence of Jeff's in what Parent played.

  • Dunno man, I'm not aware of any of his stuff published and available for purchase/download.

  • Now why does travis barkers half descent solo have over 8 million veiws and this guys out of this world amzing solo have only a mere 17,000

  • Saying Travis Barker's solo is half decent is generous... but I digress. Travis is famous for being a rockstar and Jeff Prosperie is only well-known in the drumming community. The Blink 182 fanboys drove the views way up.

  • now thats drumming

    others play a whole set

he can kick ass with just the snare

    NICE!!

  • Does he play set?

  • I have no idea.

  • Phantom Phire with American Flag taped sticks FTW.

  • who does this guy march with? haha he's crazy! they should put a shock collar on him to calm him down a little.

    amazing solo!

  • He's a member of the U.S. Army Hellcats ensemble, but he's an alum of the Bayonne Bridgemen and the Phantom Regiment. Also, he's a highly respected current DCI/PAS judge and former percussion caption head of the Phantom Regiment ('93-'95).

  • little drummer kid on coke

  • lol true dat

  • all those cheeses....oh my.....

  • i love cheeses

  • hahaha "is he using carrots comment" is hilarious

  • He was my instructor a drum clinic I attended. He's even better live. He was nuts.

  • Is he using carrots?

  • its a brill solo but would be 10 times better if cut the out-of place tricks

  • o m g

man u can really drum =|

  • Ha, I'd love it if this were me.

  • what kind of drum sticks are those?

  • yes MR. Prosperie used to be the professor at UL Lafayette. Now hes doing solos for Bridemen. tisk, tisk.

    BRING BACK THE GAMELAN JEFF!

  • It's beyond me on how he can go so fast with his left hand at :45!

  • Never heard of dca but you are one solid snare drumer! amazing...

  • This is not me... I just wanted to post a video of the winner.

  • WTF BBQ?!?!

  • dude, that solo would have done really well in dci i&e!!!!!!!!! crazy singles

  • holy crap I wish i had your kind of speed on single strokes.

  • man you have such a strong consistent left hand

as a percusionist...even if you are a lefty..kudos to ya!!

  • what does DCA stand for

  • As I state in the description, Drum Corps Associates.

  • its suppost to be a drum solo not a dance comprtition

  • theres added points for style, etc...

  • what, hes not allowed to have a lil fun while he drums?

  • I am jealous. I hate my instructor. That should be me. DAMN He is good!

  • He's good.

  • HE's not good...HES AMAZING.

  • Would he have influenced Jason Parent's solo in 92 or 93 to the point that a few sections would be similar though seperated by 15 years?

  • OMG his left hand speed

  • I saw him do this a PASIC 2004. What a classy guy. Smartest judge I've ever heard.

  • i saw this solo live at the scotch plains percussion festival

  • Wow, amazing. That was a really good solo!

  • Who does he march for? (was out of the loop this year)

  • He's a member of the Hellcats which is a U.S. Army ensemble, but he's an alum of the Bridgemen. Also, he's a highly respected current DCI judge and former percussion caption head of the Phantom Regiment ('93-'95).

  • more recently he judged DCI finals in 06

  • he also judged PAS last year
