@Evilrex500 dude, hammeth is a puppet, he doesn´t contribute almost nothing musically to metallica, just sloppy-out of tune-over whammyed solos......what do you prefer.....a virtuoso puppet or the same guy that plays worst and worst.....you must accept that a guy that has played the same songs for over 30 years cant play them this badly...he should be apotheosic, majestic, flawles!

His solos have soul and feeling. I completely disagree with what you said about his contributions, he has contributed many riffs, and obviously most of the guitar solos.

Yes, his recent solos contain a lot of wah (yes, wah, not whammy), but they have feeling and soul. And not all of them contain wah. Look at his older stuff.

Hes a secondary riff contributor, that soul you mention is James not Kirk in my opinion, Metallica´s past is undisputed, im totally convinced that in 80´s and early 90´s metallica was the most kick ass band on earth, now they completely lose their tightness, i saw (hear) it with my own eyes (ears) live. today morning i was listening to ride the lightning, and you know, i cant even believe this guy 1:14 recorded that 20 some years agoo.

@infernalmetaller Yeah he is a secondary riff contributor, but that soul I mentioned is both Kirk and James.

If you think they aren't kickass anymore, that's just your opinion, and it's pretty insignificant considering how many Metallica fans there is.

By the way, the lead at the start of this song ( 1:08 ) isn't even a solo, so you're really making yourself look stupid by using that as an example.

@Evilrex500 haha is not a "solo" but im talking about guitar playing in general not only "solos" i use this 1:14 as an example of the lack of guitar skills of kirk right now....is this stupid? you are blinded by fanatism, you must accept that metallica plays with a lot of indifference, they´re not commited with quality anymore...i am a fan too, i had chose to play guitar because of them and the tightness and heavyness they use to deliver!

@infernalmetaller He fucked up, big deal. Yet again you are refering to technical skill, which, as I said, is not the only important aspect of playing the guitar. I'd rather see a guitarist put feeling into their playing and occasionally fuck up, as opposed to someone who plays perfectly but stands there like a robot.

And you were using 1:14 as an example when we were talking about guitar solos.

I am not blinded by fanatism, I just prefer to see someone put feeling into their music.

@Evilrex500 to me is painfull to see them playing like this, be honest with yourself, the sound of this band is better or at least the same than that seattle 89 concert or even san diego 92? its imposible to mantain that quality? im asking too much? is natural that a band like this just stop playing with "soul"? that metallica has a soul and an enormous one.
