i dunno what it is.. i cant play an instrument or anything, but i can remember every lil note in video game music an either whistle or hum it out even after so many years. hah love nintendo
The Japanese version had a chip in it that could partially imitate the sounds used by the super nintendo. The music for the Japanese version is much crisper, more complex, and does not sound 8-bit at all.
The Famicom allowed for sound expansion chips (in Konami's case, they used their VRC6 and VRC7 chips) which simply allowed for more sound channels, not more sample or PCM channels. It's still entirely 8-bit and simple square waves - the VRC6 didn't allow for other sound waves. Other chips like Namco's N106 allowed different pulses and waveforms, and Konami's VRC7 allowed for very complex FM-style emulation (like in Lagrange Point)
the hottest song is this game was the song from the frankenstiens tower and atlantis was also a great track, you should really consider adding them and not just the first 5 melodies
if you listen to pretty much all the tracks they have three sections the bass and two coinciding melodys or riffs which go in different places and a some hilariouse electro percussion and yet i could just sit hir and listen to this all night long which is exactly what im gonna do
Amen brother. It seems like they put a helluva lot more effort back then. Although I like hearing some of the music now just done in 8-bit. Like Castlevania SoTN. Sounds great in 8-bit.
this game rocked! and the music too!

music is math. if you can grasp adding and subtracting, you can grasp the basics of music theory.

I absolutely adore the 2nd track (clocktower). It just fits so well. It reminds me of swinging across those pendulums. Great times, back in 1990...
