Hellfire! I used to have this video until I sold it on before I moved house! I also rode the old 1S54 Bournmouth - Glasgow Central service semi-regular in my kid days, when I wasn't on 37s on the North Wales Coast route! I used to love watching the loco change at Preston! That shunter is still working there too! He's platform staff now!

Didn't fully appreciate what an effort it was to attach locos to carriages, probably not the best job on the railways. Great video

These were better times when you didn't use diesels completely pointlessly on electrified lines. It's also appalling how much the XC network has shrunk since these days.

@tomwalkermusic The sooner the pantograph carriages are fitted to all Voyagers/Super Voyagers/Meridians, the better!

I think a great many people would be very afraid of getting down into such a vulnerable position to couple/uncouple and attach air pipes etc...I certainly would!
