This planet has only one problem and all the hybrids and windmills and warm fuzzy eco-crap isn't going to solve it: TOO MANY PEOPLE!!! This planet can happily sustain maybe 1 billion people, but 6 billion? Double that in 50 years?? Why does nobody speak about the elephant in the room and STOP BREEDING people!!

@PDZ1122 ...If you watched the video, you would see that Lester Brown did talk about stabilizing population. But since you brought it up... who would those people be who you implore to stop breeding? Care to name some names? If you are so concerned about breeding, why don't you voluntarily sterilize yourself or, better yet, sacrifice yourself to Gaia?

We have the technology to take water straight out of the air like a dehumidifier and filter it for drinking water.There is no need for a shortage of water.

he's dead on. i especially agree about population control. almost all the world's problems, (economically, politically, and environmentally)stem from overpopulation. the problem is, the countries with the fastest growing populations are often the poorest ones and cannot/will not change their ways for whatever reasons. if the world had a sustainable population, we wouldn't need to worry about any of these problems we have today.

population control is just an excuse for well, control. we have a food surplus. the other issues can be worked out there have always been issues throughout history with economics, politics, and environmental issue due to technological suppression, greed, and the need for control!!! and how do we decide who dies and who lives?

when you say "we", who exactly are you referring to? I doubt people in 3rd world countries would agree with you that "we have a food surplus". it's common sense, that if you have more people, you will be using more resources.

Sure, plan B is the way. But the power will fight it, by decreasing oil prices. It's up to "ordinary" people to do something about it, not the power.
