  • Glad to see you were hunting with your kids. That was beautiful. I've put together a show about hunting fossils that you won't want to miss. Check my channel out.

  • If you're VERY patient, you can find small Trilobites. I visited this site days after the roadcut was finished, and brought home literally hundreds of Brachiopods. Love that site!

  • are there any sharks teeth there?

  • @sharktoothking10 No shark teeth these fossils are Ordovician age .No fish fossils have ever been found in the tristate area (in Ordovician strata ) . Ordovicain fish have been found out west though around Utha /Nevada . Fish where rare animals on Earth back then and what few there where never migrated here .

  • Just got back from a 3 day excursion to the Cincinnati Arch area - drove over 1300 miles roundtrip but it was certainly worth it! I wasn't at that site in the video but close to it - the variety and richness of marine inverts are unmatched. If I lived closer I would join your group - thanks for posting!

  • Ive been there twice...never seen another person there besides us.

  • Actualy Ive seen lots of folks there .There are even people who have dumped fossils from other locations (Ky Mississippian age crinoid stems) hot dog sized for people to find .

  • i wanna become a paleontologist wen i grow up

  • Hey great video.I'm gonna head up this or next weekend to a local place that has awesome fossils.

I have a question, if anyone can answer it-

What is the chemical make-up of the most common fossils? Like, if you broke up/crushed some fossils, and mixed the fossils in water....what would the water mostly consist of? ie: nitrogen / ro hydrogen? Please let me know if you know the answer. I've tried googleing my question, but had no luck. Please respond asap. Thanks for your time

  • Most your fossils are lime stone , i think that translates as calcium carbonates (look that up to be sure ) . Many fossils are in filled with calcite crystals =calcite .

  • in louisiana, we have mostly petrified wood. tree fossils. I <3 trees (:

  • this is such an intresting video and you are very smart on this subject

  • Correction the seashell with coral was really horn coral with smaller coral growing on it .Notice the point in the video .

  • This video had to be edited and reposted to remove city location. Add 89 for the true viewer count .
