I am using a school tabletop, about the size of teh circle you made, but it is really heavy. I can lift it on my own, but will the leaf blower be able to support the board and two people? Also what did you put for the purpose of your project?

It may work. My base was not that heavy. I think toy should use ply wood. But it should be at least close to 1/2 in thick. then it will lift.

it is 1/2 thick, and it is about the size of your board. It is like laminated, so i dont know if i can staple the sides but i will nail it. I am using the caretaker's leaf blower and i think that those are the big powerfull ones. Does this sound good or shld i buy a new one. I am also good with only one person going on at a time.

i used 2 leaf blowers with tubes on end of them and used 2 layeers of plastic (because when i used 1 in broke) also used bogger plywood its lot easier to move in it and i balence it so when you lean foreward it goes forward and wherever you lean it goes that way

Easy way to find the center without measuring. Draw a line diagonally from one corner to the opposite corner, then repeat for the other two corners. This will give you an X drawn on the plywood. The center of the X is the center of the plywood. This works for any rectangle or square.

The corners are a little more dangerous in a crowded situation. Since I had to bring this into school I did not want anyone to get hurt. I gave over 300+ rides at the science fair and everyone had a great time. It even held three adults at the same time. It was fun to make and not really difficult to find the center of a circle.

thanks that helped, me and my friend made one exept with an expensive leaf blower. he sent me down a street roughly 45 degrees and i almost broke my arm.

After some research, I found this hovercraft was made incorrectly. Real hovercraft skirts do not inflate when up side down. The skirt is as easy as making a giant hole on the skirt. While the hovercraft is right side up (with the hole in the skirt), the craft creates a "seal" with the ground and inflates the skirt. When the skirt is fully inflated with the motor running, in this case the vacuum cleaner, the air has no other place to go but through the large hole which creates the hover effect.

What I demonstrated is the same effect. Even with a skirt the air still escapes out the sides. That is what you "ride" on. With something this size I did not have anything stiff enough to act as a skirt. The 6ml plastic worked out great, is easy to find and inexpensive.
