  • My favorite performance of this song of hers! Best version! Her acceptance speech about her parents gets me choked up everytime!! LOL

  • Y'all get over it! Yes LeAnn and Trisha both did the same song.. Big woop.. Happens all the time!

  • Ok number one....Don't call me a liar I saw her in a interview on TNN on Crook & Chase talk about it . That is what she said, I wouldn't make anything up.And how do you know the people that work on her version with her I think that is a bit of a lie! And as far as the Grammy's she has no control over the nominations. And of course she was happy she won. I'm sure if Leann won she would be happy with it too.

  • Where's Reba's nomination?? Just sayin'

  • It was a rotten thing to do to a 14 year old girl... but at this point it is in the past. I like both versions... but I do prefer Leann's.

  • She looked gorgeous!

  • LeAnn Rimes and Trisha Yearwood released the song at the same time-Diane Warren wrote it-for Con Air, the producers didnt like LeAnn's version and asked Trisha to record it.

  • @wmdude102086 I was told it was because LeAnn being so young they decided on Trisha, now what age has to do with it is beyond me...

  • Actually I look on the Internet and it said it was given leann rymes but she didn't write it

  • STING!!!

  • This performance is simply amazing. This live version should've been released or something...it's flawless

  • leanne blows

  • Everytime I hear this song I think of my girl ... Even though we are not dating. I still love her and I want her back how do I live without you ??

  • Neither version is included on the Con Air soundtrack album, which is devoted entirely to the score by Trevor Rabin and Mark Mancina.

  • The was originally intended for release as a single for the Con Air soundtrack. Diane Warren wrote this for Rimes to sing. The film producers felt that Rimes' version didn't have enough of a pop feeling to it, & requested that she re-record it to fit their standards. She refused, & the producers chose Trisha Yearwood to record the song. Her more country-pop version was released on May 27, 1997 & appeared in the film. When Rimes heard of the release, she quickly released her version.

  • THIS SONG BELONGS TO LEANN RIMES! Hardly anyone today even knows that Trisha covered this

  • @NutmegGiry except for the fans that bought 4 million copies of this album, the voters who gave her the Grammy, and the CMA and the ACM for female vocalist-Trisha has had a much more longer and successful career than LeAnn Rimes and will be known for more than a teen sensation 50 years from now

  • @wmdude102086 Ha ha...you are so right. This is the ONLY version of the song worth listening to!! One of the best live performances ever on an awards show

  • @NutmegGiry

True nut, leann had made this song hugely successful in pop/adult contemporary, however trisha stayed true to her musical roots and when she won the grammy for the song, she said "country radio made it possible" The ones who wouldnt know Trisha covered this song would be those who don't/didn't listen to country music. Whether or not Trisha is known outside of the country music genre, she made the song popular on country radio, which is what helped garner her CMA win for 1997.

  • @NutmegGiry really??? i tot Thrisa is the original singer??

  • @NutmegGiry hate to tell you this but trisha recorded it for the movie and lee ann covered it. it belongs to trisha not lee ann and trishas version was up for the academy award NOT Lee anns

  • You are so wrong this song was written by Diane Warren for Leann Rimes to record for the motion picture con-air. She had here song cut way before Trisha yearwood did. In fact in an interview Trisha said the if she had known that the song was recored by Leann she wouldn't of recored the song ,but she says that no one told her till the song was cut. And thAt put her in a difficut position. If you don't believe me google the song.

  • @chuckles1972 Well I guess that would be a bit of a lie, because according to the people who worked on Trisha version... they had Leann's version and went into the studio with it. So Trisha was full aware of what she was doing... it really was a rotten thing to do... Her guilt showed at the Grammys. Why they were both nominated in the same category I will never know. Since Leann had a massive pop hit with it.

  • @verycool49 How Do I Live" is the title of a song written by Diane Warren. It was released originally by LeAnn Rimes in May 1997 and shortly afterward by Trisha Yearwood.

  • @dhburnett trisha was the one chosen to sing it for the soundtrack because they thought leann was too young for it..hence to me its trishas song. the best female singer in the world.

  • @NutmegGiry FAIL! Trisha sang cirlcles around her

  • @NutmegGiry but that CMA award belongs to Trisha ;)

  • The original version was written for Leann Rimes by Diane Warren. Leann recorded the song first, but the Con Air movie producers didn't like her version so they asked Trisha to sing it. It's cool though because the majority see this as Leann's song and don't even know that Trisha covered it. Leann's version is the popular one and the one that broke records for remaining on the Billboard hot 100 list for more than 69 weeks! Her version peaked at 2, Trisha came at 7.

  • @NutmegGiry I Agree that Leann had far bigger hit with How Do I live. Not taking away thing away from her success with the song. I'm just saying I have seen both of them sing the song live.and I think Trisha sings the song better (LIve), I totally Like Leann's Studio version better than Trisha Yearwood I always have. And Trisha's version went to #23 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went to #2 on the Hot country chart. And Trisha won the grammy for the song over Leann.

  • I have always like Leann Rimes version better than Trisha Yearwoods. Until I seen this performance in 1997 and I got goosebumps all over .and I have never forgotten about it. She was put in tough positon...before recording the song she didn't know that anyone had recorded it. She said if she had known she wouldn't of recorded the song, I'm glad she did. She sings this song so much better (LIVE) then Leann. This was when Trisha was at the prime of her career and deserved the CMA Female focalist.

  • This is so much better that lean rimes

  • SHE IS AMAZING!! ;)

  • Glad to see this performance again. I remember seeing it that night and being so happy that she won and that she "tore it up". She's perfection.

  • i recoreded this on old VHS - when i watched the show - all these years ago. I played it and played it for months.

couldn't stop listening to this live perfoemance...

now - all these years later - i still love listening to it.

and i've got every cd she's put out...

a real classic gem of a song and a performance...

  • Trisha looks and sounds BEAUTIFUL! And I love that she acknowledged Reba in her speech. I do love Trisha's version of this song.

  • Patty Loveless!! She was on a roll in the mid 1990's. She's so pretty and her song is "Lonely too long."

  • so cool that she mentioned Reba!! <3
