I have to respectfully disagree. Ovechkin's the sexier pick for sure but Malkin's the better all-around player at this point. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not trying to knock Alex or start a fight here. He's a phenomenal goal-scorer and a big hitter. Malkin's a better passer, thinks the game a little better at this point in his career, and tends to be more defensively responsible, whereas Ovie still cheats alot in his own end of the ice.

It'll be fun to watch them both as they mature.

You're joking, right? Malkin is easily better defensive player out of the two: he's superb at back checking, plus his awareness of the puck is out of this world. Ovechkin, while improved, is nowhere near a well rounded player. I seem to remember him watching as Evgeni Malkin took the puck the other way last year against the Capitals and scoring what ended up being the game winner. Malkin passes better and doesn't try to take out the opposing team's superstars. Ovie has a great shot, no question.
