  • i've just tried to apply this tips of da master on an haydn quartet, it's not easy but funny /watch?v=3Iwx2fvyh3c

  • "I'm just going to play this complicated stuff with far too much ease and then play with it for a while and show you how much better than you I am, shall I?"

  • Yeah yeah it's Bach, but I will have to go ahead and say I just don't like that ending lol. The joy of guitar: get a feel for the riff and the neighborhood it's in, and create a new more resolved ending (even though this is probably a very partial snippet) for yourself.

  • Where did he get that t-shirt? IT'S AWESOME!

  • only thing i dont absolutely adore is his guitar tone XD

  • ha ha, love the shirt.

  • Too bad these composers didn't have all the instruments we have today:(

  • @DistortionAccent To bad? Thank god.

  • I want the T shirt

  • There could in reality just be one guitar player in the world - Paul Gilbert, since he could just about play all the guitar music by any band out there anyway. :P

  • LOL bach was so crazy..hahaha makes laugh but it doesn't matter sounds cool classical on shred guitar

  • He said Bach lmao... Bach isn't a Classical composer hes a Baroque composer...

  • @AssassinSteven and you aren't paul gilbert. there for, shut up.

  • @AssassinSteven baroque music is part of classic music so shut up faggot and do not criticize paul gilbert

  • @superdiointerra1 Omg your ignorance amuses me... Baroque is about 1600 to about 1740-1750... Classical is 1750-1830... SO SHUT UP FAGGOT AND DO NOT CRITICIZE ME! :) Have a nice day

  • @AssassinSteven There's a distinction between Classical music and classical music. If you capitalise it it's referring to the classical period, but baroque is part of the larger collection grouped together under the "classical" genre.

  • @AssassinSteven he wasn't referring to the era dumbass, he was referring to the general genre of classical music

  • Bach is baroque Paul! what are you doinggg xD

  • wtf is up with his shirt?

  • id tweak it to a minor key to add a bit evil.

  • @MrMethadrine Same :D

  • Voting is for old people!

    (y)

  • Drop D will now forever be known as Paul Gilbert's secret tuning.

  • Great! Now do Sebastian Bach in drop C.

  • sheldon cooper + guitar!!

  • Great guitarist and dude, but voting is something we can't resign to, it's not perfect but quitting it is like being in 1965 and throwing away a good old fuzz pedal just because you want the kind of sound that will be achieved in the 80's. Democracy is kinda primitive state, it's like a very very shitty guitar you have to stick with until you get a better one. And in case of society it takes time people so keep playing, voting, expressing & thinking. Totalitarism sucks more than crappy democracy

  • @nartrock Dude you're high. Saying Democracy is primitive? It's been around since 500BC in Greece. The word Democracy is Greek - Demos-''People'' Kratos-''Power''. The other form was Monarchies which is traced back to the same time period. What the "Democracy" you are referring to is a "Constitutional Democracy" with is far different than Democracy itself. Please educate yourself before you post a lengthly irrelevant comment on a guitar instruction video about his shirt. Douche.

  • when i play on my guitar, record it with a calculator and play the audio directly into a telephone, on the other side of the phone it will sound like gilberts guitar sound in this video.

  • I wonder how Bach would feel about an electric interment playing his songs.

  • Paul is the coolest guy ever.. its not an act, you aren't going to catch him on a "Bad" day.. he's just a great dude...(GIT grad here) however, voting is not for Old People its for people who pay attention.. when you're dealing with an intellect like Pauls, perhaps you can play with these things but for less advantaged Americano's do not pay heed to yon T-shirt message.. Vote whenever you have a chance otherwise we slip off into a totalitarian state.. and rule number one in fascism is "NO SHRED"

  • ... "Secret" tuning? :P

  • who knew sheldon played guitar O_o

  • Comment removed

  • piano and harp, I always get those two mixed up.

  • "voting is for old people"

  • now play it with two hands.

  • Well, very lovely sound

  • guy looks like beck

  • Coolest t shirt evar !!

  • So what's the song actually called then so I can try and learn it by ear?

  • Comment removed

  • voting is for old people yeaahhh!!!

  • Why is there a Fergie Boom Boom Pow video amoung the list of PG videos on the right?

Oh yeah...its to remind us that musical virtuosity will NEVER be rewarded like good old interchangable slop for the masses.. God I hate the state of music.

....Gilbert rules, for what its worth... :-P

  • Goddamit. PG's fingers are 8 inches long. His pinky finger is freakishly long. Fucking spider fingers. How can I compete? Can't...but I can try!

  • If voting is for old people, what is Bach then? But there is hope. If you were cured of your young misconceptions about Bach you might just be cured about your misconceptions about voting, young man, and you will stop wearing stupid T-Shirts like that one day.

  • @TheSweetsOfSin 45 years old is young? SWEET! I got another 24 years to be young then! Oh wait- that's already over the hill... nvm...

  • @TheSweetsOfSin It's a shirt.

    Live with it

  • "great sounding arpeggio there"...Cmon man its bach...of course its great sounding

  • Voting is for old people lmao.

  • Shirt is so much win!!

  • hehe epic shirt

  • Haha secret tuning

  • Nice t-shirt Paul. Im a little dissapointed that he doesnt think voting is "cool".

  • which bach song is this? I'd really like to be able to find the sheet music for this

  • @refinedfriend If you were paying attention he says it right before he starts playing.

  • @520Peejay420 Well I heard prelude 15, but he acted like he wasn't sure, and i don't know if that's actually the name of a whole song, or what. . .so yeah.

  • Why would it be that most of the metal players end up playing classical? lmfao!

  • @Basoria85 Because Classical music is heavily technical, and so is metal. So I'm assuming that naturally Metal players are attracted to Classical music that way.

  • That shirt is fantastic

  • gilbert plays only one part of the prelude because if he plays both the world would explode

  • D string is off by -0.002146, Old Boy!

  • You guys know Mr Awesome from the comedy show Chuck? Well he is the Mr. Awesome of guitar!

  • say it like a wee pirate! ARRRRRGGGG PAY GEE OHS!

  • Gilbert is like a 70's guitar player with the techinacal level of modern day guitar plus he loves classical music... There's nothing better!

  • Lol. He said "g string".

  • Bach would love this were he still alive.

  • yeah! it's bach prelude no. 15

  • I like playing this tiny piece, it's also great practice for doing the string skipping stretches that PG likes to do so often

  • chunkiest tone ever?

  • Even slower walkthrough here:

    /watch?v=DlanjF3Bpn4

  • last uhhh 10-20 years...Damn Paul that's a huge gap, testament to how good you are that the decades start to melt together and how everlasting your style is

  • I love paul gilberts teaching style

  • secret tuning?

  • He says beautiful with such an english accent. The way it's meant to be said! haha

  • wish we could see a classical piece with paul gilbert and chris broderick, since they are both gods at playing classical pieces

  • do it in HD =)

  • Isn't Bach Baroque, not classical?

  • @851852093114208513 there was a classical period as well as classical music. classical music is everything from medieval era - romantic era. the classical period it'self was post baroque and pre romantic.

  • @851852093114208513

Baroque is a period mate. It's still classical.

  • Nice secret tuning Paul

  • man am i an idiot, i forgot about muscle memory, this just struck me like, OH YEAH

  • @asterhogan1 Pffttt.. sounds like you got bigger problems than muscle memory bro ;)

  • It's a pity though that he just shows the lick and how to play it, focusing on the technical aspect of it, while what really is interesting with any Bach piece is the musical theory behind it

  • @MetallSonata not enough time in these videos to cover that. But I'm sure Gilbert knows it :)

  • HE\S NODDA POSER HE IS VERY KUEL GUY...GOOD DUDE;;;OBVIOUSLLLLLY LOVES GUITAR AND MUSIC. HIMNOT SHOW-OFFY LIKE FUCKING YNG-WAY MOMSTEED

  • @chefshitpiece retard...

  • @RonnieBora YOUSE IS A BIG DUMMIEY!!! ME HOPES A GREAT BIG GORILLA ESCAPES FROM THE ZU...GRABS U BYE THE EERS....AND FARTS RIGHT IN YOUSE FACE!

  • @chefshitpiece further proves my point :D

  • @RonnieBora Obviously I'm not being serious. Relax, man.

  • i like this guy because he can play fast

  • he's my favorite guitar player (besides david gilmour). not because he can play fast, but because he's very intellectual and truly has a passion for what he does.

that and he's not a dick like a lot of other guitar players.

  • @taterfamine Yeah, he's kool.

  • @taterfamine,

I never knew he existed until today and I agree, he's excellent and seems like a good guy.

  • @taterfamine My guitar teacher met him a couple of times (at musicians institute in LA), and said he is completely humble, and even though he's probably better than everyone around him he acts like he has no idea that he is.

  • @gmacbeth121 i met him at a guitar clinic in italy... your teacher is absolutely right... very nice guy... it was raining quite heavily that night and everyone expected paul gilbert to rock up in a nice car... surprise when we saw him walking under the rain with his guitar over his shoulder... hahah

  • @gmacbeth121 lol my guitar teacher met joe bonamassa and he said he was quite full of himself

  • @gmacbeth121 He sure is. Met him at guitar center a while back. Super nice, down to earth guy!

  • @gmacbeth121 I really? paul went to a music college in buffalo

  • @redghost105 Paul is a graduate of the Musician's Institute in LA, where he met gmacbeth's teacher; he goes back to do workshops and such ,and helps run MI branches in Japan, where he lives most of the year.

  • @gmacbeth121

'Cause a good musician knows that the more they know, the less they know.

  • @taterfamine when u mentioned dick guitar players you must be talking about malmsteem. that dirty, over gain keyboard style guitar , abusing the diminished and phygrian scale playing fag. then yes i totally agree.

  • @taterfamine True that man. I met him once in person, couldnt of met a more humble person.

  • @yoshu2 I actually sat with him at NAMM for a half hour just shootin' the sh*t. Super nice guy. Smart as hell.

  • @taterfamine Amen bro! I like Petrucci, in addition, for the same reason. I love nice people who happen to be extremely talented.

  • @taterfamine he's not VERY intellectual , and thank God he isn't. he even said it himself that he isn't exceedingly brainy about music, music theory and the like, instead concentrating on experience, what sounds good and genuine passion for music

  • "Prelude no. 15, perhaps!" i love this guy rofl

  • voting is for old people

  • Does anyone have the tabs for this, I went to the site and no luck.....yeah I'm tone deaf. :-(

  • @inventiontension search for the bach prelude no. 15

  • @inventiontension don't search this by tabs, you must search it by music sheet :D

  • would be better without palm muting ...rocks this way to

  • @mitomen2000 wouldn't be very clean
