  • Queen Latifah sings this song so beautiful and shes doing a new movie with Dolly Parton..I love these women cant wait to see 2 queens together in the movie "Joyful Noise" Cant wait Queen Latifah loves Dolly and wanted her to star with her !

  • A note for note cover, was surprised she didn't change it. I do LOVE that B-3 sound in this. And the original.

  • i love that piano part, and the Queen sounds marvelous

  • Well Ms. Latifah just proved that she was never born to be a 'Rapper' even though she was pretty impressive as one. She was born to actually sing and sing some of the older tunes, standards, current trends as well. She has a way of doing her voice that really adds flavor to older sings, making them her very own. She is definitely no copy-cat! I find myself loving this as much as Barbara Lewis. Thanks for the upload!

  • Really nice version of a sweet song :)

  • Good but Barabara Lewis and Yvonne Elliman sing this song way better.

  • she's so so so so Beautiful

  • I like her version better than the original Barbra Lewis. Queen L has conquered alot in her life actress activist singer & much more

  • @jsand93 When did this "Paula & Latinaires" record it? Before it was written? I would hardly think Barbara Lewis would write it and then give the song away. Tell me about this.

  • @Nocaro Barbara Lewis did write & sing this song. I was quite alive in the 63-65 years and it always reminded me of my wife. We were kids when we got married but we've made it for 45 years so I remember a lot of 60s music. I especially remember it during the summer of '65. It's such a long way back in time. I'm having thoughts of that time a lot now. It was the time of our becoming.

  • she's always had this beautiful voice .. she displayed it on her black reign album which is one of the greatest albums EVER loves me some lati

  • she sounds so good a beautiful woman you go girl peace.

  • This sounds like a classic that is trying not to offend anybody.

  • A Beautiful song sung by an equally Beautiful Woman!! Queen Latifah makes this song her own. Such a talented singer & actress. Thanks Nocaro for posting this cover!!

  • wow! i never knew she did this. great version

  • YOU GO GIRL DO YOUR THING!!! SANG

  • Great comment Dsheik, but give the Queen the abundant credit she deserves for this wonderful cover that shows the respect she always to the artists who preceded her,as well as her contemporaries and fans. And starr55, as an old Irvington guy, I couldn't agree with you more. She is the most original and versatile artist of her generation.Period.

  • Queen Latifah did a good job. However, someone should have told her the group singing background in the 1963 original were still alive and performing as the legendary Mighty, mighty Dells. What a record it would be if she recorded with them while Johnny Carter, who died after her remake, was still alive.

  • She gained fame as Queen Latifah but, I prefer Dana Owens. Barbara Lewis would give a standing ovation of this rendition. Beautiful, soulful voice. Triple threat. Can sing, act and is a beautiful woman. You never hear of any trash being thrown her way. Could it be that she just lives an ordinary life? Could it be that she s just a genuine person? Hey, she' s just Dana Owens. Gotta love her.

  • Wow,whoda thunk. This was a complete surprise. Rich sweet voice. I can listen to this beauty over and over.

  • One of my favorite songs in the world! Brings tears to my eyes.

  • a fantastic version by Queen Latifah of this classic....Love it!....thanks for sharing.

  • Hey, this sweet thang done it right...take it from a Motown Guy !!!

  • Who'd thunk it "Da Queen"? Wow, she kills this song...like it was written for her, WORD!!!

  • niceeee ms dana!!!

  • Go 'Head Queen :) Sounds Lovely!!

  • Queen you rocked this song!!!!!

  • This is lovely, Barbara Lewis Hello Stranger is one of my all time favourite recordings. I see this as a tribute to Barbara Lewis, I expect Queen Latifah would say she just had to sing it. I think she is a lady with emense talent, and integrity. Lord Thorpe the first. (check out Ruby Winters)

  • I love Love her music, so romantic.. we love it

  • Very nice. forgot Queen can SING !

  • Long Live Such a Beautiful and Soulful Queen. She should sing all the Barbara Lewis catalog. I'll pay now.

  • I love it

  • What a beautiful version of one of the best songs anyone ever heard. Barbara Lewis must love it. (We can forget the Yvonne Elliman thing.)

  • While driving I heard this and I just had to run home and make it a favorite! Something about Queen Latifah's mellow and sultry voice got to me! Thank you QL for giving this classic a dusting and make it shine again!

  • Queen Latifah does a superb job with this as she does with Poetry Man.

    We'll miss you Phoebe. RIP.

  • she can sing , just like california dreaming nice.

  • This is a really pretty arrangement by Queen L. -- I grew up with Barbara Lewis' moving 1963 original, and Yvonne Elliman's disco-beat version is soulful and soothing, too...great ladies making absolutely wonderful music...

  • @50Emerald It's a nice cover of the original B. Lewis recording which YouTube at the present will not allow me to post in its pristine form.

  • Dana Owens is truly the "Queen" with rendition of Hello Stranger......earthy yet so sexy and it leaves you wanting more......Love You Queen Latifah or Dana Owens!

    mrusmcdoc53

  • Actually, my favorite version of this is by The Capitols but Queen Latifah has an excellent voice! Please check out her on "What Love Has Joined Together", "How Long (Betcha Got A Chick On The Side)" and "Gone Away" from her Travelin' Light CD! She can really blow!

  • She does such a great job with this classic make Barbara Lewis proud..

  • All of a sudden, after all these years.. I am a Queen Latifah fan!!!!! Never knew she had it in her.. what an exzuisite rendition of Barbara Lewis' soul classic!!!!!!

  • @Paramour34 Don't sleep on the Queen; raw talent personified...

  • Queen Latifah? This sounds sooo good. I knew that the Queen got down with the vocals, but I didn't know that she got down like this.

  • From the words of a baby booming rocker...THIS IS DAMN GOOD! You go girl!!!!

  • Think about it. How many rappers can actually sing?Queen has my respect after hearing this nice version.

  • eve though this is a modern version.......that 60's organ adds beautiful flavor to this cut.......wish it was used more.

  • I discovered this about a year ago and I am so glad to see that others are discovering it as well. Simply majestic as befits the Queen.

  • Man!!!!!She hit out of the park with this rendition!!!!Incredible version..

  • ....hhhhmmmm.......sound good to me. Not the original, but its close and it sounds like Queen Latifah did it with heart......................P.S. Baby Girl.......you is fine.

  • Never knew that she can sing so smooth!

  • this rendition sounds like it's a classic that's been around for years....

  • @sxdutt Of course, the original Barbara Lewis recording is a true classic that has been around for years, but unfortunately YouTube won't allow me to post it due to some copyright issues. However, Queen does a great cover and justice to the song....Nocaro

  • @Nocaro barbara lewis recording is now posted.

  • @Nocaro It seems to me that I read that Barbara Lewis wrote most of her songs. Either way such a talent comes along only a few times in a decade or 2. When I was dating my wife Barbara Lewis was big on the radio around the area we lived. How many times have we said if I could get one day back & really appreciate our lives and those bands that played for us. Young people these days don't know flip about real music, musicians & singers. I hope I can get my granddaughters interested.

  • @aellarex I was too lazy to look up @s of songs written by Barbara Lewis. She wrote all 20 songs on her 1st album.

  • @sxdutt thank god Queen Latifah recorded something great like this! Thanks you .....I miss the old music and continue listening to it..always... I think Queen Latifah is incredibly talented (singing and acting)

    My favorite...

  • Whoa !!!!! I never thought Queen Latifah could get down like this !!!! Nice !!!!

  • She did such a great job on this one! Now I have to go and get the CD!

  • WOW!! beautiful.

  • Beautifully Done by Queen Latifah, beautiful voice, great rendition.

  • boy does this lady look good...and i would never have believed it was her singing this cover...awesome.

  • Thanks Queen......Thanks Barbara........and the beat goes on......

  • wOw! iM bLoWn aWaY. LaTiFaH doEs BaRbArA LeWiS JusTiCe JusT PerFeCT aNd ThEn SoMe, YeT iT DoeS'nT SuRprizE mE oNE BiT. AbSoLuteLy BEauTiFuL!

  • Latifah you got skill do more of this and less of that, you nailed it this is music and song ,that other stuff well i dont know, what i do know is people are singing classic music from years gone past i dont think anyone will be singing most of the new age stuff......hence classics

  • What a great voice! She is a talented lady and should do more singing.

  • oh yes....

  • When i first heard this version was by Queen Latifah,it absolutely blew me away.Goes to show you, some rappers can actually sing.

  • shes pretty. and so is her voice(:

  • I agree with many posts. Barbara Lewis (and Yvonne Elliman) had great unforgettable versions of this song, but "Queen" (or Dana) does an amazing tribute rendition which I think I like just as much. Beautiful!

  • I love this song by Barbara Lewis great hit...but Queen Latifa sings it well with her own style..I love the piano organ sound in this song makes u wana keep on listening to this song..thx for sharing w/Yt..5* fa sho...=)

  • Great job! And Queen, thanks for keeping the cha-cha roots, not hiphoppy.

  • i almost like this version better than the original --- she is one sexy lesbain

  • Queen really nailed this version. Very soft and pretty!

  • The original is lovely but Queen Latifah does it beautifully... Suzi from London, UK

  • Great song but what gives with the pics, 2.16 doesn't jive with the glamour shots. LOL

  • Great tune

  • It is often said that imitation is the highest form of flattery,Queen Latifa just paid Barbara Lewis the highest form of flattery and did it in style.

  • Someone needs to upload the Queen's version of Smokey Robinson's, "What

Love Has Joined Together," that I first heard by Mary Wells...It's just as good as

    this cover...

  • this woman succeeds in everything she does and how beautiful.

  • Absolutely beautiful!. I never would have imagined that Queen Latifah would cover this song, or that she would do it so well. Her voice soars here, Wonderful surprise for someone like me who loves the original Barbara Lewis version so much.

    Thanks for posting this.

  • WOW......
