well i have an understandig that bishops are better on open endgames than knights.... this was a surprising exception

@GUSTAVOPINGPONG It's all relative to the board. The vast majority of white's pawns were on dark squares, meaning that black's light squared bishop was essentially powerless compared to the knight.
