  • Where are their Revolutionary costumes!! LOL!

  • I think it's your brain that's off

  • The drummer is messed up - he's off. Watch him from .53 - 1.17.

  • Fun Fact: most factions of Cherokee tribes during the Civil War fought and strongly supported the Confederacy...

  • @TheSlaughterJoker the last Confederate General to surrender was full blooded Cherokee

  • Love the Raiders version of this song. It's a remake of a 1959 song by Marvin Rainwater. Don Fardon, formerly of The Sorrows, covered it in 1968 and took it to #20 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

  • Heard through the grapevine that he dumped his 55 year old wife for a beautiful 18-year-old brunette. It hurt his wife so bad she contemplated ending her life.:(

  • ¿The casino in Reno,Nv[usa] is very close to an Indian rservation*, but where is that edsel thing? Can you afford a new Mustang now?[2012!!]

    * Nixon nevada/pyramid lake/anahoe island--[Anaho Island]

  • 1:17 .paul mcartney's twin?

  • I heard this song in my social studies class, learning about cherokee people :O

  • @EpicKnight808 Omg me 2 lol

  • I WANT THOSE PURPLE PANTS...LOL

  • This performance would have had greater resonance, had they been wearing the triangle hats and yankee doodle dandy get ups. A shame.

  • always loved this song!!

  • Love this!!!

  • I love this music, whoaaaa!!!

  • R.I.P Myke salamanca. You dedicated this song to me and the rest in our little group a few days before you passed on Monday, Jan 30 12'. We would watch indian comedy "jonas, romulus and edgar" and we named ourselves after them. We often talked with indian undertones and slang. We were a tribe. Love you man.

  • @wkares and @btownmxer Not trying to rude at all,but the lead singer of the group was is actually Mark Lindsay. Paul Revere was in the group, but he wasn't the lead. (:

  • @beileverdaydreamer So glad to see you say it. And no, you were not rude. I didn't say it because I was afraid it would have come out rude. Good job. SMILE

  • We were all raised on John Wayne, Cowboys & Indians. This band brought social awareness to life with a cool tune. I remember all the younger hip teachers assigning native American studies in the 70's. History was renewed to show us, the plight of the Indian.

  • @missxavier100 Shouldn't you be standing in front of a cigar shop?

  • My favorite video on all of you tube.

  • Lead singer's name?

  • @wkares Paul Revere

  • @bjw71 Remember Anthropology 101? Anything not else wise explainable becomes a religious or political reason. :)

  • Am I the only one brought here by their Social Studies teacher? Haha!

  • I LOVE THIS... THIS NATION BELONGS AND WAS FOUND BY NATIVE AMERICAN!!! TO GOD BE THE GLORY... CHEROKEE NATION WILL RETURN...WILL RETURN... WILL RETURN!!!

  • Why do you people always make it religious or political?

  • @bjw71 Please define "you people".

  • Well, I believe he lived, he had followers, and he was a nice guy. I think that most people need something to believe in, something to give them comfort for all the bad things that happen in life and to them. I believe there may be a supreme intelligence in the universe but we could not even conceive the idea of its existence. Sorry I attacked your beliefs though.

  • and I agree that you guys are nuts! He was just a man, man writes the history and god was created in mans image! Christianity has gone thru history trampling down every religion that it could and assimilating them to "convert" people. Sounds kinda like what the borg do on Star Trek. Easter is based on the pagan holiday of Eostar (spring Equinox) not to mention a few other holidays. Its only logical to make yourself a powerful religion, that you can not tolerate any others

  • @llysander1 I am assuming by your words that you do not believe in Jesus Christ or His saving grace. It is impossible for anyone who does not believe to understand God or the gift of His Son to save mankind from eternal death. "Only when you believe is the proof shown and once you believe the proof is everywhere."

  • They were billed as just "The Raiders" on the original 45 record of this song.

  • and My sister and I met him

  • its so small (the town)

  • I live in the town where he was born and I go to the house alot because I know the people who live in it :D

  • I live in middle of Cherokee Nation here in Oklahoma.....This song is fitting...I do hope Cherokee nation will return....great tune...

  • I am a Indian Outlaw.

  • The chorus of this song always, and still gives me goose bumps.... I still dont know why, but i like it lol.

  • the giving hawk gave me this song when i strong like man from stone.

  • BEAUTIFUL AND SO ACCURATE

  • Why can't I hear this? I want to teach my grandchildren about the way things once were, but they cant hear this song. It is important to me that they understand our heritage and where they come from.

  • @thatsignlady have them listen to Redbone

  • i remembered only the chorus of this song as a kid in the '70s. This is the first time I've heard the whole song. I never knew what it was about. Kind of a sad song in a way.

  • Hey, @Sunny76ist, check out some of the world before sounding off???? How about a visit to Shiprock, NM?

  • Where I live(Hermitage) is the reason for this song.....

  • Although I am only 1/32 Cherokee, I have learned somewhat of my ancestry, and I am PROUD to call the Indian Nation a part of me. I have the original 45 of this from when I was 6 yrs old and have cherished it. Perhaps, some day, man will find out that there is more to it all than fighting and killing and being disruptive and rude...probably not in my lifetime, but I can always hope .

  • Well im part cherokee indian and I say FUCK THE WHITE MAN. FUCK THE BLACK, YELLOW AND OTHER BROWN MAN. THIS IS OUR LAND. REVENGE IS ON!!!!!

  • @sheffieldmvp Want some cheese and crackers with that whine? What makes you think it'd be any different from the last time?? Your Ancestors were Superior to YOU! Revenge is for Fools and Children. Work, enjoy, die a good death. Pete Reeves Altoona, PA

  • @sheffieldmvp Tell me something. Were not the Native tribes in this land fighting and killing each other before the white man arrived? Was this a Sovergn Nation? Were all the Natives united as one whole nation? Do you think the white man was evil for doing the same thing the Natives were doing to each other? Why do you curse black people when they were kidnapped and forced to come here? My point: ALL MEN ARE EVIL NO MATTER WHAT COLOR OR RACE THEY ARE! NOBODY IS INNOCENT

  • @TheRgordon16 True words. Read history from any culture. It doesn't matter the color or race, it is man's sinful nature in all. All men have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. The only saving grace is in our Lord Jesus Christ. Only through Him can there be peace.

  • @yupyup1562 Yes I agree. As a computer can be effected by a virus, causing it to malfunction. So the whole Earth has been effected by a virus called "sin". And because of this virus called sin, every culture throughout history has been guilty of violence against it's neighbor. Whether its in America or Europe or Asia or Africa or the Middle East or Australia. All are guilty. And yes I also agree Jesus Christ is the only true answer to remove this virus from the hearts of men and women

  • ALEX DELGRECO ADG FOREVER

  • I love this song, but the quality of the video is not very good.

  • The drum sync's hilarious!

  • ¡¡¡Un temazo de los ´70!!!

  • Comment removed

  • who is "they"?

  • @cme98 Take an english class and learn how to speak. That ghetto crap is not cute or impressive.NO IM SAYIN?

  • fluffy

  • Just take it for what it is, a loss of culture and a truth that runs deep in the heart of native Americans. It is deep with hurt, well written and crafted. I have loved this song forever:D

  • Tim McGraw's "Indian Outlaw" brought me here

  • bnsaints

    @Txmedieval You imbecile

LMAO..wow that's a snappy come back.. bet you needed help thinking of That 1...HAHA, co exist..Funny.. witch craft n christina have NO reason to co exist, nor do Muslims n Americans!,, get over urself!

  • This land belongs to no one! We are just renting it. Sooner or later, we will have to pay the rent. The Spirit says that it,being the land, is EVERYONE's and as such we are all responsible for the atrocities we cause upon ourselves and the soil. First co-exist and them peace will come as a nuturing from soul to soul giving the all truth that WE The PEOPLE, were created equal.

  • Okay, wtf is with the ads breaking in during the vids?

  • well I just love this tune and I do love the Cherokee Casinos there great good food and fun..

  • Song is kinda outdated now since all the beads are now made by barefoot China kids.

  • I would love to sneak this onto the playlist at high school dance! LOL

  • Song a little dated now...beads aren't made in Japan anymore...in China!

  • USAisAntiWhite Any 1 ever told ya UR an Idiot..If Not let me be the FIRST!

  • I'm part Cherokee...

  • hotathlete2 ... you said to me

(@Txmedieval well, your white ancestors should be running any group off of their land in that way there'd be no conflicts. Make sense?) ok...so WHAT does THAT have to do with what I said...seriously!! White people really have NO..Land...DUH

  • THE NATIVE AMERICANS ARE NOT BAD THEY GOT A BAD RAP. IF ANYBODY OF ALL PEOPLE IT IS THOSE ONES WHO SHOULD BE GIVEN THERE LAND AND HONOR BACK. IT IS THERE COUNTRY NOT OURS. SPOTTED HORSE. MY NATIVE AMERICAN GIVEN NAME AND PROUD OF IT. AND I AM NOT A NATIVE AMERICAN. GOD BLESS THEM.

  • @MrJimmybgood I live between 2 reservations in Minnesota and most of the native Americans I know are alcoholics, and on welfare. They net the fish out of the lakes...not for personal use but to sell. Nobody can take a person's honor away. I hate to point this out but they lost the war and the most important thing of all is this is all a part of history....the past. We need to move on and we as a country need to stop treating people differently because of their race. No special privileges.

  • Couldn't they have done another take just for the drummer's sake?!?!?!

  • No One took away their native tongue or bead making I know I lived in Wyoming for 5 years No one took away ways of life they simply learned to upgrade to the gun. They evolved! And it wouldn't have happened sooner if not for the "WHITE" man

  • @cfromcass You need to go back in history and yes they took away the right to talk in their language. The red man which I have Cherokee blood in me is still called savages to this day. You and I aren't old enough to know all the things done to my ancestors, not being ass but but many wrongs were done to native americans

  • @lonewolf81252 This song make you all crazy? Do you blast this at top volume in your car? lol

  • Alchol defeated the indians!

  • ok everyone hold your horses you cant look at what happened from a 2011 point of view, you have to look at it in a 1840's - 1880's point of view, they thought that they were doing a service, they didnt see any thing wrong with it .

  • I always wondered about mark's racial background. Was he indian, mestizo, or just a dark skinned white dude?

  • Comment removed

  • Many will say the Black Man had it bad... the Indians had it worse. I was in 8th grade when my teacher brought this lp to class to teach us lyrical value in music. She played this song and the one after, "The shape of things to come" -- I went straight to the store and bought this album after school and it remains one of my favorites to this day!

  • @1958marky Yes, the native americans have had it worse than any other group. If any group has the right to be racist, it's the red man.

  • cherokee people should be free to express the old traditions without being made fun of in my feelings of being a cherokee thank you.

  • winnipeg wuz here

  • @siphra ..ya say..That wasn't immigration, it was conquest. Winner decides the rules

Thats Ur interpitation..mine is different as I am Part Indian!! It IS.. n Was immigration

as the Indians were here LONG before the rest...least Indians Learned English to communicate...the freaking spics are not even bothering!!

  • Occupy Cherokee Nation! The 1% !

  • Wonder when the next President will be Native American?!To my native American friends.I miss you Jim!

  • Big number one for Paul Revere and the Raiders the summer of 1971.

  • Positive words about these people ( all tribes). thanks for posting, don't remember when I saw this band, Phx. Az.

They produced good sounds, any one know if they're still around?

I'm poor, but I feel for the Native Americans, that I donated to the Lakota ( Sioux) children.

  • wow I forgot how great and underrated this band was!

  • Power to the poeple!!!!

  • Sunday night's episode of The Walking Dead reminded me of this song.

  • Got to love that era and the music...But, no worries...we have Lady gaga and bieber...

  • This song still gives me goosebumps.

  • The music is great but to blame all white men is fucking wrong.

  • @MatthewCVR no its not. whites came from europe and totally took over. they got away with rape, theft, murder and destroyed american indians native culture and ways forever. this all happened when the white man came from europe. how can u say its fucking wrong to blame white man?

  • @fcdrre1 What about the white vikings who were here in the ten hundreds?

  • @fcdrre1 I think I learned in history that the "native" Americans came here via the Berring Straits from Asia. Doesn't this make them immigrants? Let's not forget what their ancestors did to the white women and children as long as we are looking back. It's only fair to look at both sides. If we can just accept it as part of history and move on, everyone will be better off. The past is in the past...we can't do anything about it. We can only strive to make our country a better place for everyone.

  • i gotta say this song is so dam true!! the white man came onto their land and murdered and pilfered and stole and tryed to wipe out the native indian race! but that just was not going to happen because the native indians have the great spirit backing them and we actually owe them rent on all the land we try to call ours, they have been wanting peace all along, but never got it from ignorant whiteys and i am a white man, long live the spirit of the native american indian, the great spirit will do

  • Haha, the drummer is so out of sync with the recording.

  • Cherokee indian here, want peace and not revenge. this song is about persecusion which may need to be heard. But what needs to be heard is our opportunity for life which has a right to be heard. no revenge, but an opportunity to contrubute to life as we know it.

  • @ljmarAtHome that's the voice of the native americans i meet. glad to see/hear it here. thanks!

  • @ljmarAtHome

Your right, America's history is not all clean and clear.....You have every right to dream and be just as I do, GO FOR IT. BLESS YOU AND YOURS.....

  • @ljmarAtHome Ummm you have that already, they're called casinos and Indians are getting RICH now. So there is no more struggle, it's over.

  • @WarmFuzzysGertieRose Glad for your message. Rich now ...does not cut it. Cherokee are not in charge of Casinos to boot! I see your point. A relief in finances may tip the scales for survival. The bigger picture has yet to be unfolded. It's not over. One day Mother Earth will decide what is enough. When she does...we will all listen.

  • @ljmarAtHome Unfortunately, what has happened is that the lessons of what was done to the Native Americans was not learned, and there is a certain disrespect for other cultures and races in the world. The violence has moved on to other targets. The goal has been greed, gold, and it's still there. The Cherokee tried to full the laws of the white man, but the white man said justice only applied to white people. It's still that way.

  • I am full blood Native from Oregon..... when this came out .... everyone was saying they had some Cherokee blood....

  • @PoopBaker-

  • REMEMBER WHAT THIS SONG IS REALLY ABOUT GREAT SONG GREAT MUSIC GREAT BAND

  • utube and it's streaming problem is such a cunt just like the rest of corporate amerika.

They have no problem with their little shit pop ups though.

Hey Flash Riot people/Wall St protesters,,,why don't you attack utube if you want to destroy something?

  • never stops being powerful...

  • This song reminds me of my new Jeep Cherokee for some reason...

  • Even though the Cherokee is just a fictitious indian tribe made up for this song these lyrics still hit home about all of the injustices imposed on the indians by the black slaves who spread smallpox and pillaged their land. RIP sweet chiefs.

  • one of the best song ,great music.

  • @ Mr cherry..............LOL If ya dont like my grammer...spellin n such PISS OFF

  • long live native america

  • If ANY one should be pissed off about Immigration it should be the INDIANS!!

  • @Txmedieval That wasn't immigration, it was conquest. Winner decides the rules.

  • @Txmedieval

    Great point

  • @Txmedieval You imbecile

  • wow love this song, how true

  • ya-ta-hay white eyes

  • love this song love it

  • Love, love, love this song...always have...

  • just found out I'm part Cheroke......too cool - explains why I love this song....LOL

  • I saw them in Boston in 1990 ? they were still great!!

  • I am a proud Cherokee descendant! My great great great grandfather, Tah-ne-yun-ta, walked the Trail of Tears and lived to tell about it. My maternal grandfather was Cherokee and my other grandfather was 1/8 Cherokee also. I am proud of my heritage!

  • @CherokeeHeritage ...i was born in Oklahoma...In school we were tought about the trail of tears. There is alot of Indian tribes in Oklahoma. I know in my heart that this land is not ours to own. There is no such thing. One thing i do know is that The Native American will survive. I think way beyond the Federal Government. (mabe not in my life time but years to come)...just saying

  • now is the time.time for the red man to rise up and take back our country.we can do it.

  • @orgekiller are you kidding? good luck doing that. the "red men" around here are too busy making babies and getting drunk...oh, and running casinos. I don't think they are too interested in taking back the country. oh, and why are they called "red man"? They are dark complected...not red. If they did take back the country who would make out their welfare checks? i'm really tired of the "poor indian" attitude. Why can't we all just be Americans? BTW, doesn't "native" mean "born here"?

  • People in America cannot get behind anything meaningful and have honest conviction because they are afraid of losing their luxuries. In other countries people don't have cellphones or Internet access. Every day brings the question, "how will I eat today?" Americans need to get off their ass and fight corruption! The Tea Party is weak. Bring back Tar and Feathering! Grow some guts and I'll march right behind you in the face of Death. Rise up against this oppression and insult! Let's GET THEM!!!

  • The Cherokees were the last of the Confederate forces to surrender. Thor honor their memory and bless their souls. Long live the SOUTH. Long live the Cherokee.

  • @YambidiBlamBlam Not all Cherokee fought on the side of the South. Mainly the white slave owning Cherokee fought for the South. The real traditional Cherokee fought foe the North. And by the way, won!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @YambidiBlamBlam Thor?

  • Yeah, Thor, as in the God of Thunder. Ever heard of him?

  • @YambidiBlamBlam Yes. Have you? Because he's not *gasp* Cherokee. And probably not a Confederate. Too busy being Norse.

  • @YambidiBlamBlam Da Southe will wise again! When Hell freezes over. Welcome to the 21st century, you are going to hate it!

  • @MrCherrypie69 Ur an Idiot!! The SOUTH will n in ALOT of ways HAS risen...pay attention!

  • @Txmedieval You keep telling yourself that; and it shows, bad spelling, bad grammar, and you probably speak just as bad. Look at that Southern pride; if the south has risen, and you are a product of it, I don't want to be any part of it. Retard.

  • This Song Will Never Get Old....LOVE IT.......

  • Hey, Harley --- thumbs up... my great grandmother was full blooded cherokee, too and that didn't mean anything until I got older and heard this song... my whole attitude changed about these people and a great respect set in at the tender age of 14. I still listen to this song faithfully and think of my GGM frequently...

  • Tla-o-qui-aht

  • Proud 2 Be Indian !!

  • I am part Lakota Sioux, among others. I, too, am ashamed of what some of my white ancestors have done to Native Americans of all tribes.

  • RIGHT ON, YOUTUBE HAS BEEN TAKEN OVER BY THE FASCIST CAPITALISTS AND VEVO.

YOUTUBE SHOULD BELONG TO THE PEOPLE AND NOT CORPORATIONS

  • @GnarlyNutSack Remember when the drummer hit the cymbal at the right time?

  • @GnarlyNutSack Good luck

  • @GnarlyNutSack there is nothing u can do about it and thats that.

  • Ho hum, and I am just a mere human

  • Cherokee :black hair , bronze skin, brown eyes ... just perfect. never an original cherokee is white with blue eyes. the cherokee womens look like latin women hot , natural, and beautiful.

  • I saw these guys at the Iowa State Fair last night! They were awesome!

  • @IgekHilliker SAME HERE!!!!!!!!! :)

  • As an American Jew, I only wish my own people had the respect for, and desire to preserve, our religion, our folklore, our languages, etc., as the Native Americans have. Most of us "sold out" long ago!

  • @RaananVolesPianist Most People In The USA Are Christian.Jews Are From Asia I Think. But Any Ways There Would Be No Reason To Learn Your Beliefs.Since Theres No Reason For It For most Of The USA I Respect Your Religion But Im A Christian So I Would'nt Be Learning Your Religion.Folklore? Yes,Im Cherokee Bye The Way

  • one of ancestors was a cherokee princess married to a fontiers man, I believe his name was Lewis Whetzel, something like that , I have great feelings for our land, I believe the indians should of been given a fair share of everything, but white mans greed took over, after decades nothing has changed................................................

  • I have a lot of Cherokee ancestry. Three of my 16 great-great grandparents were Cherokee. My great great grandfather, Johnson Ketcher, was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian who was the first Indian to serve as a US Deputy Marshall. His father, Tah-ne-yun-ta, was a Trail of Tears survivor.
