I would love it if they could adopt the same presentation as world chess, with on screen graphics as it's all too quick to follow and not sure what they are doing, and yes, It does seem that they don't block or am I missing something?

unless they acting really fast but everytime i watch a match it seems like they never block when they get attacked.

Magic is amazing because you can play casually with a ton of junk food and your friends in a kitchen or in a shop on a friday night for prizes and if your really lucky maybe one day in the spot lights.

well it did on one of my decks. It was a combo Grim Poppet + scarecrone. When i used to declare blockers and damage on the stack i could then draw into another card via scarecrone. Since this no longer applies I am having to rework this deck.
