Why do you think they dont record this song anymore? because more modern Christians are letting the Hell idea die in their spiritual practices. A good sign I think
Over a backround chorus the edits close ups to children singing is good cinema, I feel however the beauty of the children is exploited. This came across to me as a horrible twisting of the message of Jesus Christ and Christianity in general. I would prefer children were taught a vision of heaven, of peace on earth and good will, rather than how one may burn people alive as a punishment that has sadly, horribly, been taken literally due to this belief as history vividly demonstrates.
very bad latin pronounciation, sang quite well, but i still think this song needs more mature voices, I would like to hear the red army choir sing this ^^
@Treemeadow There are too many fights on 'Youtube' .. But, what was it that made you think the notion of Hell as craziness? I was sad to hear you 'dropped' Christianity. I know little of the unitarian way of thinking, but it seems if 1 religion can so easily replace another, what makes 1 more right than the other? Are there no consequences for wrong actions in the Unitarian way? If so, why do we have consequences for some actions in daily life?
Unitarian UNiversalism is non-dogmatic. It does not have a concept of "punishment" for simply making a choice that differs from the religion (i.e, if someone chooses not to believe in God, thats fine).
Hell is CRAZY. WHat loving "God" would offer "free-will" only to punish those who select not to follow him with eternal torture (not to mention that version of hell is unbiblical anyway).
There ARE consequences. But WE take responsibility for them. No god necessary.
I should also note that U.U does not have any position on gods/God/thedivine/supernaturalism anything like that. It allows the members to make their own minds up. Mine is agnostic. Others are theistic/christian/muslim. However- there is more tolerance in the U.U faith. There is no hatred. There is a common goal for human brotherhood.
For me- I just have to look at all the evidence against Christianity to know why its foolish to follow such a hate-mongering religion.
i think its like really uh HOW SHOULD I PUT THIS.... WEIRD, TWISTED, AND WRONG(slightly in a couple of ways) to have these innocently looking children (their floating heads -_-;;) to be singing a song named "Day of Wrath" about the end of days ~_~...
Yeah.... but it would be nice to see an updated version of this song. A new arrangement by Robert Prizeman would be nice. He could do something absolutely amazing with this!
Libera sings Die Iras to relay that there is a spiritual combat where they defend the good from the evil, that the truth is that hell does exist, the composer wrote that classical piece for that reason. The angels from heaven do have victory
Please define "spiritual combat". That is meaningless. "They defend"? Who defends?
What you wrote if gobbledegook. In addition, the old idea of the devil, a human concept, is outdated. Teaching children about a devil is wrong because when they mature into thinking adults they realize they have been "had" and they, unless they are intelligent, may be incllined to reject all those moral concepts that are needed for orderly society. People don't behave because they fear hell.
While I sincerely believe that hell is just the greatest perversion of mankind, I must admit Mozart has done a very beautiful version of the "day of wrath". But it does not actually suit the pure and innocent voices of Libera...
Hell is a human invention as is heaven. Great for inspiration in music and art but
let's not get silly about it. Both of these concepts were designed to make people behave before there were enough laws and justice systems to do the same thing.
We have matured since these bad old days. "A dollar for the colletion, Sir, to keep the clergy employed?"
Excellent. I highly commend you for uploading this. Unfortunately the Libera fanbase is now mostly too "soft" for this piece to be sung again. Dont want to offend the godless... ;)

Oh grow up !!!THE WRATH of God is coming and the very elements will burn...the whole planet. sooooo are you READY???? Well HE said "I will not destroy the Earth by water, next time I will Destroy it by Fire" and many with it.
I liked it. I have seen these boys on other videoes and they are just angelic--perfect for singing such music. And they do a very good job at this and I like the imagery. These boys are very talented. We need to bring back choir boys--and the old Latin Mass. The new mass is ugly and Protestant, and the new reuqiem is evne worse! I love the Dies Irae poem! So powerful and Mozart interprerted is so well--the best requiem ever composed was his

...I love the music and all, but its crazyness like the concept of Hell that made me drop Christianity for Unitarian Universalism.

I gotta say...Liam's facial expressions are like perfect for this song...not a bad song, different from today's Libera but it's still good.

I suspect that the St. Phillips choir (and not libera) still sings works such as these once in a while.

I'd be considered "godless" and I like this piece. I think it'd be interesting to have Libera do it.

I think that, just in order to get a cute response, the old lady asked Liam what he thought hell was like, since Dies Irae is about judgement day.
