Actually I prefer movies of the 70's, 80's and 90's but this movie is one of the very few masterpieces in decade 2000-2009. Interesting storyline, brilliant acting, directing, editing. Tom Hanks and Tyler Hoechlin were so impressive.
Such a powerful scene in the movie, so very simply put together, we get to see that Tom's character is literally Pauls "right hand' man... and holds a place in his life his real son never could
This is the first time I've noticed the use of the Scottish folk song "Barbara Allen" as the main melody from 0:25 to 1:03. I'm sure it symbolizes something, though I'm not sure what. Dark song, though.
@creed007121 , he plays a psychotic son of the Irish mafia boss(Paul Newman) of a small mid-western town. (Rock Island, Ill.) So when Daniel Craig says "cause it's all so fuckin hysterical", to an 8 year old kid, it's out of line & shows how he's crazy. Great movie. I especially liked the photographer hitman played by Jude Law. This character, along with Watson in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes, was the best role he's played IMHO. Can anyone name another character Jude Law's played as good?
John Looney was a real mobster in Rock Island, Illinois upon whom the character John Rooney is based. Looney was notorious for criminal activities along the Mississippi River into the 1920s.
Well... it's a great scene for sure but... I think the most powerful scene is the father-son moment; "Pa... did you like Peter more than me?" the convo which ends with Mr Sullivan explaining to his son "Peter was such a sweet boy... and u were more like me; and I didn't want u to be"
RIP PAUL NEWMAN
Forever will you be amongst the great ones in my heart
