  • Mike Lazaridis your company is the best in the world for smartphones....

  • Mike Lazaridis stepped down from his position in RIM. In regards to the outage, the main issue was that all the RIM representatives did not tell "any" information about the outage. I remember the first press conference.. they basically "did not care". Period. The "only way" that RIM will keep in the game is this. "SLASH / CUT THE PRICES OF YOUR OVERPRICED PHONES AND TABLET !" That.. is the only way they will stay in the mobile market.

  • RIM is dead this 2012. We cannot see it alive in 2013. Which means Blackberry is dead.I'm so excited it is DOOMED!. iPhone and Android FTW

  • Γεια σου ρε Πόντιε!

  • Yantram is one of the leading Market research companies and Also Research Data Entry Company India.

    yantram services pvt ltd

  • This vid went viral on PortoNovo

  • cool shirt

  • he tries soooooo hard. don't moan at the company

  • Just make it up, those market share charts in the US aren't looking too good for you. Get the new devices out NOW. Maybe the OS 7 devices would've been nice last summer, but its not amazing this time in the year. If i don't see the newer deices by April, I'm done with you guys, I already deal with a lack of some apps. I don't have anymore time to waste with under powered hardware (BOLD 9650)

  • There's been an outage in RIM stocks also. Are you closely monitoring the situation?

  • give the guy a break it must be a really stressful time at the moment for everyone at RIM

  • why is everything about blackberry so boring???

  • I'm a BlackBerry man, through & through. Will never hop to iPhone, have been offered many times..just won't. I used to defend BB ferociously, with the launch of OS 7, i finally felt at a competing level. But I've come to a point now where I'm at a love have relationship. Love BlackBerry's uniqueness in design, and cosmetic appeal (UI included). Hate that my 9810 still have severe processing problems where iOS doesn't. RIM needs to stop the stingy crap, and start manufacturing good quality phones

  • its time RIM got rid of these people and get someone in who can think different!

  • My 2nd blackberry. Bold & Torch.

My decision was either a Torch or an Apple iphone4. I have regretted ever since. The apps are way below standard. The phone processor is super slow, extreme unresponsive touch screen, excessively long menu on stupidly designed apps.

In the internet world today. once you lose a customer's confidence, you lose them forever. To gain customer confidence, RIM must do better than Apple and Android. Coz there's no strategic advantage. The phone is too expensive.

  • i have searched the net far and wide and for some reason i cant find a forum or support that allows me to make a complaint directly to blackberry..........it wasnt the blackberry crash that made me change my mind.....its just that iv come to the realisation that bb is crap!!!!1mine has officially given in and it aint even a year old.....extremely upset!!

  • I got rid of my Blackberry, and picked up an iPhone. Good riddance.

  • wish he wasn't reading a text to do that announcemnet

  • just updated my os today and it doesn't ask for the password?

  • In 10 years, I'll be asking, "Where were you when RIM fell?"

  • Does anybody have a link to the full log of events? I'm doing a research on Blackberry crisis management. Would appreciate any help

  • he took this video with an iphone 4s 8 megapixle. hahaha

  • @kris2flip no but with blackberry shadow or colt

  • IT DON'T WORK STILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! D:

  • @DaEverything wow... probably the first time I read a racist joke since some years, thought they would be out today.

  • The $100 app-ology should have let us users pick the apps we wanted - not some lame, non-working apps that are 'gifted' to us (2 so far). I bubble popping game & drive safe.ly that has terrible reviews & doesn't work :(

  • You can read it off a screen... Just like blackberry to be lazy!!!

  • i didnt even know there was an outage...o.o

  • Nice Promotion Bro

  • Nothing says sincere and heartfelt than being lazy to memorize a simple speech

  • TOO bad he is reading it

  • @iamthatgood696969 what would you suggest then?

  • Watched this from my iPhone 4S.

  • He was just reading from a script, watch his eyes.......

  • Hahah blackberries suck, but the new bold is kinda cool, still, android or iPhone, never let u down

  • @0Genus0 nope, still running smoothly. The same couldn't be said about you 4 days ago.

  • Did anyone else hear the camera operator say 'go' at the very beginning?

  • Another teleprompter dependent fool, nice make up by the way

  • I watched this on by blackberry lol

  • BB stops working for a day or so and people goes crazy. If you cannot BBM, just text, simple. iPhone users coming here, stop hating. Both devices are great and it's preference. When people compare them, I say stfu because I have both. I prefer to use BB as a phone and iPhone as a multimedia device.

  • BlackBerry all dayy. And with the new BBX OS its gonna be dangerous lol. Watch out apple, RIM is going back to the top! Hopefully

  • Blackberry is probably the bet phone, but ape just has cool apps. Solution? By a blackberry and an IPod!

  • What did one blackberry user say to the other? ......lol should have got iPhone u blackberry fan boys

  • steve jobs spent his days 'wow'ing crowds with new products but this guy appears on social media for the first time for an apology about his malfunctioning product services. that's just sad. this is the difference between blackberry and all other products.

  • sent from my iPad 2

  • Will i have to pay my bill for this month?????

  • Touching

  • To be honest - this outage was huge commercial for BlackBerry as it was described in the news as global connectivity issue which means that BB is a GLOBAL connectivity thing. I am already thinking about buying one of the BB for myself to be connected to the world :) Kudos to you Mike for being so open about the issue.

  • I'm not using a blackberry, but I'm really stunned by this apologize. Hardware and software issues can happen. But Blackberry really seems to care about there customers.

  • We need politicians to talk like this

  • blackberry sucks

  • he is reading cue cards

  • blackberry dropped the ball ill be switching to i phone should have upgraded my phone or issued a credit to my monthly bill 100 credit for the aapp store slap in the face for ppl that dont use apps that much

  • Also, I can't wait for the Apple iCloud service to inevitably drop out for a few days and watch you Apple converts stumble about, confused, with nowhere to run. ;)

  • What I don't get is that the service has run perfectly well and has maintained a global network of mobile devices (an enormous task in itself) for years on end, but as soon as the network goes down for a couple of days, everybody suddenly turns against them?! It takes a monumental amount of effort to keep that system running, and it's only natural that it would slip up one day. I, frankly, find it amazing that they got the entire system up and running again in under a week!

  • @0Genus0 Yes very true, however, the same folk complaining, are the same folk who would feel lost in this world without their BLACKBERRY , me included lol.

  • I fear this may be a repeat of what happened to Sony a few months back. I personally believe that Blackberry and their servers have been compromised and hacked, and I would be very concerned if my personal information (including credit card information) was on their servers at the time of the attack. If this is the case, like Sony, they must come out with it, as soon as possible.

  • He looks like he ate too many blackberries that were probably poisonous. Puffed his cheeks!

  • With all due respect; you may also want to take a look at your own forums for the problems with OS7. The users of BB's feel neglected. Sometimes we forget where we have come from and I think you have reached that point. I use to love BB's until I got a 9900 with the new buggy and useless OS.

  • Wtf is blackberry?

  • @MrDJEMAR it is the phone that you will be loving someday

  • @hjfg54 highly doubt that since its going downhill fast, Research In Motion needs to do more research to keep up with tech and what consumers want.

  • He talks as if a nuclear bomb has exploded lmao

  • You've lost my trust!

  • Yawwwnnnn

  • I'm a proud iPhone owner but this is a brave and sincere move by RIM. Credit where it's due.

  • This is sad, he sounds so pitiful.......Plus he's horrible at reading from a teleprompter!

  • @LondonReignMedia LOOOOOOL that was funny

  • Canadian pride

  • just ordered my new iphone 4s! goodbye curve 3g.

  • Beans give you gas something wicked!

  • I am very proud of this man... TWO THUMBS UP, it takes a lot to do this, and also communications are great, very simple but clear and what seems to be a sincere apology.

  • BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! and goodbye

  • What's wrong with having a prepared statement?

Are these whiners the same people that think Obama's use of a teleprompter (instead of winging it like the retard before him) is some kind of massive strike against him? LoL

  • Apple sells 4 millions iPhone in 3 days.

  • Can RIM sink any lower? Answer is YES. Why would anyone want to own a Blackberry knowing they'll be out of business by 2013.

  • Rim:

Public apology and a free credit to customers.

    Apple:

"your holding the phone wrong". "you can buy a plasic thing for $30 that will fix it"

    ----------------

One of these guys is a responsible CEO, the other is a cult leader.

  • That's a good example of crisis management!

  • Looks like he is reading the message - look at his eyes! They are moving from left to right!

  • Looks like he is reading the message - look at his eyes!

  • Why does it matter that he's reading off what he's saying? He cared enough to make this video..

  • this guy is ugly as hell

  • and now without the auto-cue...:P

  • Well, at least you care enough to make a video and tell us what's going on..

I have no problem with my BlackBerry Bold 9900. But, I was getting text messages window multiples. Either than that, I was receiving email, ect. So, yeah. Anywho, hopefully this can go back to normal. Love my bb.

    Best of luck,.

  • THATS A GOOD CEO, APOLOGIES WITH CONFIDENCE

  • It doesn't matter if he's reading all those stuff of a sheet of paper. What matters is he have the guts to talk in front of the camera, and show people that he cares about the issue. He's reading the stuff he's saying but that doesn't mean he does not care about what he says. You never know, maybe he wrote the statement.

  • Are you people saying he's reading something just stupid? We all know that, but if that was me, and I suspect most other people! I'd want to have a speech prepared and ready to give a fully professional and reassuring message that we are taking this seriously and wanting to get it sorted ASAP. Instead of blathering out something from memory, it would not help the situation and would make it look worse for BB.

  • He's reading all that crap

  • Look at his eyes and you will see he has something he reads from ...

  • He is reading from somewhere, he doesn't speak from his heart. Fake excuses. Lol -_-

  • that's why I'm never dependent on BBM till now, why so selfish communicating in your 'own' way? Why not SMS and social network using normal connection? Unless you're a corporate or diplomats which requires higher level of security...

  • Isn't it strange that all this went down just as the I-phone 4s launched? Folks...it's warfare out there in smart phone land...espionage, sabotage,...you name it...it's war

They all desperately wanting your business and will stop at nothing to do it

Look at the war going on between AT &T and Comcast cable lol...my god it's a bloodletting

  • i still find it curious that BBM goes down the same day iMessage out...

  • @dsbum SAMMEEEEE HERE!

  • apology accepted

  • I just want to let BlackBerry know that I got a an iPhone 4S.

  • I'm sorry, but could anyone please tell me what happened and what this is all about?

  • @DanceElo There was like a 3-day outage of the Blackberry devices. No one got their emails/msgs. Can you imagine being in corporate/government and you NEED your BlackBerry to work? Yeah.. sucks..

  • @DanceElo

    Thanks for that!

Well, I don't need my mobile for work but that sure kinda sucks..

But they got that fixed, didn't they?

  • Yeah my phone is still messed up.. Facebook, App world and Internet are all slow ever since it went down!!

  • Next time we won't let 50 thousand spooks with spoofed mac addresses start collecting information on millions of customers at once causing us to create our own denial of service crash. But hey have you looked at how many people are into protesting these days. Just when we though we had enough machines to serve us and we were ready.

  • As a Canadian and BB user, it saddens me to think that Canada's largest tech company might be at the brink of ruin.

  • BB did not get out in front of this problem effectively. Lazaridis' lackluster, stilled, well after-the fact apology is welcome, but a little too late. Tech issues can and do arise, but given RIM's precarious brand position, daily updates from their communications dept. (not just terse, largely uninformative press releases) would at least make BB users feel an outward sense of urgency to resolve the issues that I'm sure is going on behind the scenes. There should be 4 U Tube Videos. Not just 1.

  • my bbm is still messed up but i understand it takes time to fix the issues

  • I thought only koreans and japanese apologise sincerely, thumbs up for Mike Lazaridis!

  • الرئيس بنفسه يعتذذر

  • After years, Blackberry users finally look at their friends to eyes again.

  • This isn't even genuine he is obviously reading from a teleprompter

  • if the apple service where down steve jobs would say "SUCK IT" .

  • @IITiberiumII but it isn't down and won't be down so it isn't needed.

  • @IITiberiumII hes dead

  • Although this apology was well thought out by a Public Relations representative, I feel that Mr. Lazaridis did a good job at carrying out the message. However my best advice to RIM is to send out a message the first day of the crisis, rather than having people get more upset by waiting to hear whats going on with their bbm's. The sooner is always the better. People from Waterloo, including myself, should be supportive of RIM because they have done so much or Waterloo and we are now world wide!

  • Dear BlackBerry users,

Oh wait... You probably wont get this joke anyway.

HIT LIKE IF YOU GET IT!

  • This guy got balls. Although it doesn't fix the problem, I felt like as someone care about the issues I was facing.

  • I 've put my blackberry in the toilets a long time ago....

  • This outage has happened before. I remember balckberry was the smartphone to go to, but that's not the case anymore.

  • I'm so eager to get your new bold 9900 I saw it earlier at the mall :( I'd have to wait for 1 more month to get it :( I really cant wait.

  • For all those commenting on IT disaster recovery dont comment when you know nothing about enterprise based solutions. This has nothing to do with disaster recovery this is high availability. I can assure that the technology is not inferior and the vast majority of companies in the world would use similar switches. Whether you like it or not a core switch failure when automatic failover does not work will cause some level of impact to any organisation whether you like it or not.

  • I'm done with BlackBerry, I'm getting an Galaxy SII

  • I'm done with BlackBerry, I'm getting an Iphone.

  • You really need to remove comments on this video.

  • Nice reading off the cue card haha

  • Lah-zah-ree-dees ... so THAT'S how you pronounce his name! Been wondering for years.

  • blackberry sucks

  • I bought your BB 9700 product but your carrier service levels are very bad and very expensive causing me to dump BB and go for other phone instead which offers lot of new apps and other features. No more we are interested in your false apology notes as a customer we dont buy phones to often and you have made us unhappy as we have spent money on your product and got nothing in return other than poor service delivery.

  • horrible, sorry rim you lost me this was it.

  • why does it happen

  • Finally could use my torch just for calling- not for staying online 24/7:)

  • Steve Jobs wouldn't apologize.....just saying

  • This doesn´t have happened with Lopez Obrador

  • the president has a blackberry.....just saying

  • @AudioRecorded yes i know iphones are gonna be eaten by blackberries

  • What is he apologizing for?

  • at least you admitted your mistakes unlike example sony for the PSN outage

  • مخانيث

  • Pauly from Goodfellas. !!.. haha.. "Pauly didnt move much, he didnt have to"

  • Sony is not reliable, tv's have a huge recall due to fire hazards...that is very serious.

  • you guys have only got me because I'm locked in for the next 16months. this is the death knell of blackberry for sure.

  • Would have been funnier to see him take a 12 gauge shotgun to one and say " This works "

  • This is the worst apology ever... i mean... reading the speech? You're the CEO!!! it was not hard at all to say im sorry i understad whats happening. Show some passion for your company for christ sake.

  • @link00 at least he admitted their mistakes

  • Dude....

  • Who cares that he's reading that?

  • Please use a real teleprompter next time, for your own sake. We all read off a script sometimes, but it does not have to be that obvious. ;-)

  • @MyRepentance if MIcrosoft had a outage in Redmond, Wa and your home PC stopped working, no more email, no more surfing, no facebook, no youtube, would you feel the same way that its good enough? I have had Blackberrys for years because my company "forces" me to use it. It is ALWAYS behind on technology. I have the latest 9850 and it still sucks in comparison to any other phone (droid or iphone) and even as a corporate user, I am still imprisoned to RIMS BIS outages (not BES)

  • Remember the day when Blackberry and Apple were just fruits...

  • I wished more company's did this.

  • thanks for the information

  • Comment removed

  • i want a shirt like his

  • At least they're trying guys. Lots of negative comments...probably from people who don't even own Blackberry phones.

  • @NickHolstead So i am not a CEO of a mobile phone maker, so i cant have an opinion.?? wow, what cubicle are you sitting at> RIMM troll. I had Berry phones for 8 years, one day i realized they sucked. The tech was old and nothing new ever came out. in 2010 they got the "touch screen", woohoo.!!... Apple had that in 2007, Driod is just as good now as well. Those are facts, do you have a comment about that. ??

  • blah blah

  • I am, and the rest of the world is on an enormous high level disappointed from RIM and we have lost our trust in this company!

The communication from RIM was in greatest measure inadequate and this statement is not enough excuse for what happened, not even close!

RIM will lose in the market and it will lose customers for not being anticipatory and having no IT disaster recovery, what indeed every no matter how small company should have!

  • Funny how no other phone manufacturer forces all of your Internet traffic from your carrier, over the Internet, through that phone manufactures network just to get back on the Internet again. If find it almost humorous that nobody else finds an issue with this from both a service level comparison of phones as well as a security one of all of your traffic routing through some server owned and managed by RIM.

  • @ardmallor I agree. This would have never happened with iPhone, Android, or even as much as I hate to admit it, Windows phone. The fact that RIM routes all traffic through their own servers, regardless of the carrier, is a flawed design to start with. What people really need to be asking is why RIM feels the need to do this? What are they doing behind the scenes that necessitates the need to route everything through their servers? Are they capturing data? If so, who are they supplying it too

  • Still waiting on Bill Gates to apologise for Windows Vista

  • @manu55 Bill Gates doesn't work at or own microsoft. Even at the time of vista

  • @manu55 vista is the core of win7 and 8 .. you better appreciate vista :)

  • @manu55 Don't hold your breath. I haven't...otherwise if we did Window users would be dead...lol

  • If the founder and Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis of Blackberry is sincere in his apology.....then apology accepted. I can respect a person better if they can do at least 2 of the 3 actions....look in my eyes directly, offer an apology but i don't expect the 3rd which is a total rebate of money wasted. But in stead a company's rep is damaged which hopefully is more costly.

  • @manu55 What's wrong with Windows Vista? My laptop which i am using to type an use daily for portable use never gives me problems. What's your problems?

  • @wucherer Vista was baaaad. Windows 7 is much better. Lion OS X is the best. I suggest you upgrade to one or the other.

  • @manu55 Vista's "badness" was overhyped and only blind sheep or those who deploy their PCs for very specific tasks would have run into serious trouble. That, or you're on a $200 netbook and should get a job.

  • @manu55 DKM!!!!!!

  • @manu55 lmfao so true..

  • @manu55 Windows Vista was fine by SP2.

  • Too little, too late.

    Another burning platform.

  • well done Blackberry things happen & they fixed it thumbs up ....

  • hes reading from a screen watch his eyes.... jeez he cant even speak without reading a script. Fail RIM
