The reason for this was because when Blink first Released Take off your pants and jacket and performed this song at MTV, Tom's guitar went out and at parts would play and wouldn't play. so to be safe this time MTV made the instrumentals playback.

yes, i know that when Tom's guitar went out it was a totally different show. that show was the MTV Music video awards i am pretty sure. oh well all i know is that it was MTV. this happened to be months later but so the guitar didn't go out again they made everything playback except for the vocals. anybody, even with the littlest experience in music should be able to tell this is playback.

Think about it. Real good musicians don't need "pre recorded" guitar parts PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND while doing their thing live. Maybe for a studio recording, sure. Live, hmmmm, I don't think you need to do that. Also, if you listen to first date's studio recording more closely, the verses have no rhythm guitar back-up. It's just a single C note played over and over. And that's where my previous point comes in. Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb. Dumb...
