  • Great album. Phil wrote anthems...and we loved them.

  • remember our guy, Phil Ochs, way ahead of his time...

  • loves me my Phil, he was the best in 65, met him in Ohio.

  • love it!!

  • fab!!

  • thank you for sharing my man from 1965

  • someone please dig this a&m release up and post this track clean on here so the rest of the world can listen...

  • we need more people like him...i can't do it all myself you know.

  • I know, right

  • You don't have to do it yourself. Lots of us are ready. :-)

  • The Squirrel Bait cover is my favorite song on Skag Heaven, and the original right here is also excellent in a completely different way

  • Phil did a very up tempo live version too.

  • Such a talent, the A & M albums were a dramatic musical jump from the Elektra albums but yet managed to preserve their intensity, feeling and commitment.

  • I wish someone would post a bona fide video of this!

  • I agree and if they do, will you please pass it along my way...but until that day comes, I can't even tell you how much I appreciate finding this and thank you so much for the post pops on the record and all.

  • You are very welcome. Sorry I can't stop to talk now but I'll send you a tape from California... .

  • In the video response I submitted, pay particular attention to two men standing behing two Dallas Police Officers ( 1 minute 31 seconds) one of the men is Phil Ochs legendary folk singer who was sent to Dallas as an observer. There is another You Tube video called TEXAS SCHOOL BOOK DEPOSITORY that will support this film. Phil Ochs was later found dead of an apparent hanging suicide. I wonder.....

  • Shit, I never knew Squirrel Baits version was a cover of this. I kinda like this, But I still prefer S.Baits version !

  • Yes, the squirrelbait version is truly amazing as is all of skag heaven

  • yes it rocks!

  • Squirrelbait did a great version of this on their skagheaven lp back in the 80's.

    Such a top tune!

  • Yes! thanks PepperWhite62 for posting this great Phil Ochs number!

  • I just put this up temporarily until someone puts up a better version with better audio. I used my little ghetto camera. It's a great tune, wish someone would post the faster (live?) version too.

  • Thanks, I've never heard the studio recording before.

  • There is an up tempo rock abilyy kind of version Phil did too.

  • Yeah the live version, I have it on Farewell and fantasies! Really hope Sean Penn will do the movie!

  • Is Sean Penn considering a film about Phil Ochs?

I'd be first in line to see it.

  • Yes. Penn has been talking with Och's daughter for years now about the possibility of turning his life into a film. Penn looks a bit like him, specially older Phil. I'd be right behind you in the line!
