@goodbeerfinder100 The Cold War lasted through those years and there are Cold Warriors who paid the ultimate price maintaining Peace and Freedom. Cold War Veterans are the least recognized, sweat = blood. More Sweat Less Blood.
Actually man, many were worried that an all-volunteer army wouldn't work. The media threw the book at the new weapon systems. My Dad was an armored cavalryman and I remember watching him nervously watch the hatchet job 60 minutes did on the Bradley, the M1A1, the AH64. They declared those weapon systems of Reagan's military useless, unfit and "unworthy for battle."
Gee.... All have been with us since 1984 and STILL going strong.
The new logo is more "hip." This ad campaign was great. It was seen for about 5 years from 1984 to 1988 approximately. While not on TV any more you might find a staff sergeant or two playing it for new recruits when they are about to get on the bus to basic.
This is the Army I thought I was signing up for! Man, talk about false advertisement, I been in 3 years and I ain't done a single thing from this ad! well... I got married to my hometown sweetheart, but that's the only correlation so far
Military is young kids dying and killing other young kids for rich old bastards economic gains.
DONT PARTICIPATE IN THE MILITARY!
(NB - my dad told me that after 2 tours of vietnam)

Imagine being in the army from the mid 1970s to the mid 1980s? Must have been great! No war!

@goodbeerfinder100
Heh heh.... it wasn't. Drug issues big time from '70 until Reagan got rid of the draft. THEN we saw the rebirth.
cobrabase 1 month ago
@cobrabase Reagan never got rid of the DRAFT, that ended in the 1970's
