Topixautographs you dont deserve any autographs of anyone , you make a living off of their generosity , and name. You even on this site advertise your site where you sign the stuff they sign for you.
I work in the music buisness and seen people like you ask for autographs in repeated cities one after the other . no wonder why stars are quitting signing items its because of maggots like you who make a liveing off of the items you get signed, why should any star sign anything for you
@lighthouse44 Maybe the millions of viewers around the world he still watch MASH till this day even after it stopped airing in 1983 and for a long period of time held the record for the most viewers to watch the final episode on TV.
I can't stand Alan Alda but it must be awful to live your life where everywhere you go, you get bombarded with cameras, autograph seekers and people who want to make you look bad by getting in your face and filming it. I feel sorry for these people. I still had Alda but he has a right to go about his business and not be bothered for crying out loud
I think that people need to stop saying mean things about him. I think that he is an awesome actor. He just like every person has the right to do and say what they want. If he chooses not to sign an autograph then so be it. It doesn't mean that he is a terrible person or actor. That is my opinion.
He wasn't even a little bit rude about it. People don't always have time to stop for every nut who wants to chat or get an autograph. I see absolutely nothing wrong with how he handled that. Toppix Autographs, you suck.
I'm going to guess he probably recognized you guys, especially given your "always a pleasure, sir" comment. He would probably sign for a real, individual fan. But, then again, he might not. It's his choice.
Instead of trying to get something from a celebrity, why not give them something? They would much prefer hearing a simple expression of appreciation for their work instead of always being bugged for autographs.
@sk8er4ever0101 I can understand that. But WTF, doesn't he know by now that he should sign autographs. Hey, if you want to get in the biz, sign autographs. By the way, my late uncle was a celebrity, and he did sign every autograph he could.
Check out the interview he did with Larry King... OR even check out the recent Larry King Johnny Depp special to find out why Alda refuses to sign Autos.
After looking at the description I think I figured out why you were so upset that he didn't autograph whatever it is that you wanted autographed. You were probably just going to sell it. Weren't you, Toppix Autographs?
@JohnnyDavidson90 Yes and he probably knew who you were too, Toppix Autographs. Quite a nice little ploy you have to make everyone think Alan Alda is such a dick for not signing autographs.
At least he explained he was in a hurry. I once had a "has been" star sauntering up the street inches from me and I said hello, and he didn't even acknowledge that I was there. I can understand their being in a hurry, but to be deliberately rude where strangers in this town say hello to each other-we keep walking but we do manage a pleasantry once in a while. No harm in that. He was from this town for God's sake and should understand the norm! At least you got an explanation.
@davesmuse I think I would rather have a handshake or a simple THANK YOU from a Star ,if I complement them. Most autographs I get I never really look at them too long b4 I put them in a drawer and keep them there for years.
@dannyd1572 This was a man who could truly act. You're prolly too young to even remember him.Try watching him in other movies he starred in.You might enjoy it.Not everything good is done by CGI and there was such a thing as a story and plot back in the day.His movies are way better than the crap they make today, that's for sure!!
@FeanorLives Are you kidding? I'm a child of teh 70's- I've seen plenty of Alan Alda's movies and grew up in the MASH era so yes....I'm pretty familiar with his movies. What is CGI? And yes, there used to be stories and plots to movies...but that was lost after the 80's. Movies have no substance now.
even if he wasnt really in a hurry - he did it in a way that wasnt really rude. he did it in a way so he didnt have to be rude. but think about it - would would you want to be stopped by everyone you pass?
I wouldn't either. Why give you an autograph just so you can sell it? He'd probably stop for a real fan, but you're just asking for him to give you money.
I don't know what all the fuss is about.Alan Alda politely declined and that's it.Too many ignorant people out there think that celebrities should stop on a dime because they feel they're obligated to the fans. They're only public property to a certain extent.
Alda's standard line when asked for an autograph has, for many years, been "Giving an autograph is demeaning to the person who asks for it and I will not demean you." You can take it as condescending and sanctimonious but I do see his point. Why on earth do people want these things?
Why the hell do people even want a piece of paper with someone's name scribbled on it? Does it make them better than other people? Does it bring fame and wealth? Will you forget all about meeting or seeing a celebrity without it? I mean, honestly people. Get a frickin' life.
I used to live in the city (NYC) in the late eighties, when i was walkin'some night near Times Square and a black guy approached to me and sayin' Tom Hanks Tom Hanks!!!!
let me tell ya i asked for an autograph once Jackson Browne in the middle of the Central Park in New York. he was walkin' with Daryll Hanna who i ignored well, i was the only one who ask him so he was very accesible to me. maybe if there would be ten more people the thing was different.
can you imagine how many times a camera's stuck in some famous person's face a day? Probably a lot, right? So, really, can you blame them for not bending to your every need? they've got stuff to do too.
alan aldas great. Im glad he dissed you with good right. Had a chance to meet two of the mash cast. I can say go to signing when they have the time to do this and stop being an ass.
