@supercourier73 I TOTALY agree. Wish I could write a song like that! I recorded this and when it came on it blew me away, regardless of miming or whatever it was mindblowing for THEN!
1. I'm always disappointed when I see lip synching, yeah I know that it was modus operandi for these types of shows, I'm just disappointed when I see it.
2. He looks so scared or self conscious, it throws things off a bit.
3. I had no idea that Scritti Politti actually used instruments, or is that just for effect so he's not standing up there by himself? lol
I love music like this. If they played this at clubs I would actually go out. Just live the synth and bass. Grand Theft Auto: IV Vice City FM channel got me into this along with heaps of others :D
Loved his music but his image was never video-friendly. He had a look but he was just so foppish and any videos of them trying to perform live just looked silly. Better off just making a video of Green singing to a girl like in "Hypnotize". The recordings are all basically studio craft rather than live anyway.
This was blocked before by WMG. but however it has seem to work, this was the first performance on that 20-min edition of 12/4/84, which had other performances by The Cure, Dead or Alive (1st appearence on the show), and the video top ten rundown with the number one by Lionel Richie and the playout by Rufus & Chaka Khan. But there was no TOTP on 5/4/84, that it was blacked out by industrial action and 16 hours of testcard music.
There's another cut of this song, that has a Trumpet or Bugle in it and a few more samples and effects, has anyone heard it?

The 80s really ruled, modern music is cheap and you cant listen to it over and over, 80a like this is real music, alot of thought went into this

Pure nostalgia! It reminds me of how seriously we musicians took ourselves in the eighties.
