I think it's cool that they paid homage to an old story, but I wish they would have done this better, maybe more symbolically rather than nearly literally. @liegeofshadows This scene is symbolic of a parable about a lumberjack. In the story, he is chopping wood one day when he drops his axe in a river. On the way back to his house, a fairy appears and asks,"What was it that you dropped? Was it this precious gold axe?" The lumberjack says no, so she asks if he dropped a silver axe. When he says no, she then tells him he is honest and gives him all of the axes. After this, many people tried the same thing, but they never got past gold.

I know the story, I just didn't like this because I felt that the pipes not only didn't serve a purpose, but fairies don't belong in a Silent Hill game.
