Old school elitism is defined as the belief that graphics and other technological evolution only and always break a game, or the belief that video games were better before realistic graphics and stereo sound came along.
I never said graphics break a game; MGS4 is different because Kojima and Konami themselves do know how to made a good game with good graphics while Capcom could never make a good MegaMan with good graphics worth a crud. For example, the Legends series, they're awesome, but graphically they... Are quite behind the era it lived.
Too many audio channels and the game can do far more than a real NES game ever could wish to do (Galaxy Man changing colors for example, or the storms in Tornado Man's stage)

One thing i don't understand is that everybody is talking about this game beeing brand new? I downloaded this to my emulator one year ago, but if I don't remember wrong, the megaman was like a crappy "3d version" of megaman X.. Like it was a SNES game..

I played it now and it IS this game. Anyways, there are many glitches and splashwoman stage is not working at all. The game glitches and stops when I reach any boss besides plugman wich wont die. On boss selection screen theres no pics of the bosses either.

People who complain about the 8bit, this game isn't for you, this game is for us, the hardcore fans of the original who grew up playing Megaman. This is pure fanservice.

This game is for Wiiware, it's only a download. It will not be something you find in stores. I'm hoping it comes to xbox live arcade myself.

I can go back to my roots by just what you suggested. Playing the old games on roms or collections. Not making one exactly like the old games in every way imaginable. Cause when you think about it, 6 NES titles is enough. The fact that it's not moving forward or being an actual "BIG" release, this is crap.
It's just like I and some others have said, it's for nostalgic purposes, a homage to Mega Man's past. And it's not like there are a ton of these style of games coming out (yet.)
It doesn't make sense to be up in arms about a downloadable game. It certainly will be more fun than, say, 75-90% of all the other Wiiware games coming out (and that's being conservative;)
I would appreciate it if the latest installment of a legendary franchise WASN'T just some downloadable game with everything downgraded just for nostalgic purposes. If this were a spin off for that purpose, I would have no problem, but this is THE NEXT INSTALLMENT in the whole classic franchise. To me this is a blow. I want this game to be something i can anticipate with a whole lot of "new". But it's nothing more than "lets go back in time". It's the same case with SF4 almost.
It is surprising that it is the next true game in the series. But it's been a long time since the Blue Bomber has had a decent game. SF is the same way, it's been a long time, and people have not accepted the changes they have made in recent games (ie, sales.) It's a double edged sword. They can make some people happy, but not everybody, no matter which way they go. Perhaps if this had a different title things might be different.

MegaMan 9 can't be emulated. And America and Europe got MegaMan for a download in Xbox Live and PS Network while Japan only got it for WiiWare.

Seriously you kids need to stop whining about 8-bit. It wouldn't make a big difference I'd rather have capcom make a good megaman game with nice gamplay then good graphics. When it comes to megaman FUCK Graphics they don't make megaman it's the gameplay that counts. This is geared towards the people in their 20s and 30s the people who grew up with megaman to give it that nostalgic effect. Im 15 and I could careless about graphics.

I know it's a crying shame isn't? All the games nowadays are aboslute SHIT. Everything is being redone so many times .... I know it's kind of hypocritical *Megaman* has been done alot but at least its good and true to the quality but like games really have gone down the shitter in terms of quality. It's rare to find a decent game nowadays.

These next-gen gamers have to realize, that graphics don't make a game. I'm so tired of all of these first-person shooters, and all of these sports and racing games, with these next-gen graphics. Originality has gone right out the window, and the games rely on graphics to make the game a success, where as 8-bit Mega Man is original, fun, creative, nostalgic, and is probably one of the very few games worth buying. Everything on the shelf in the stores today sucks.

It's quite real, and it rocks!
This isn't about "devolving" or being afraid of change.
This is about kickin' it old school. And sometimes, that's perfectly fine. There's nothing wrong with going back to your roots once in a while. I still play Tecmo Super Bowl, with custom roms and updated rosters:)
This game is for Wiiware, it's only a download. It will not be something you find in stores. I'm hoping it comes to xbox live arcade myself.

I can go back to my roots by just what you suggested. Playing the old games on roms or collections. Not making one exactly like the old games in every way imaginable. Cause when you think about it, 6 NES titles is enough. The fact that it's not moving forward or being an actual "BIG" release, this is crap.

It's just like I and some others have said, it's for nostalgic purposes, a homage to Mega Man's past. And it's not like there are a ton of these style of games coming out (yet.)
It doesn't make sense to be up in arms about a downloadable game. It certainly will be more fun than, say, 75-90% of all the other Wiiware games coming out (and that's being conservative;)

I would appreciate it if the latest installment of a legendary franchise WASN'T just some downloadable game with everything downgraded just for nostalgic purposes. If this were a spin off for that purpose, I would have no problem, but this is THE NEXT INSTALLMENT in the whole classic franchise. To me this is a blow. I want this game to be something i can anticipate with a whole lot of "new". But it's nothing more than "lets go back in time". It's the same case with SF4 almost.

It is surprising that it is the next true game in the series. But it's been a long time since the Blue Bomber has had a decent game. SF is the same way, it's been a long time, and people have not accepted the changes they have made in recent games (ie, sales.) It's a double edged sword. They can make some people happy, but not everybody, no matter which way they go. Perhaps if this had a different title things might be different.
