Strapping Young Lad is a different catagory of metal. This is punk/grindcore, and SYL has much influences from melodic-, death- and heavymetal. SYL can be interpetated as raw and underground as individualls want.

Absolutely not, it's a terrible thing. But what I am happy about, is that we've located this deep-rooted problem of yours. The irony is that you should be very into TITD(I think they have several songs with the subject of rape), which you may find solace in. Or if the assailant that did that terrible thing to you was a Steve Austin lookalike, I suggest listening their music without watching the videos. But in the meantime of solving your issues, let people enjoy this music without your comments.

Groan, I probably shouldn't get into pointless internet debates with flamers but here goes. 'obvious Black Sabbath rip-off....the double kicks and blast-beats' ... 99% of metal riffs use Sabbath. TITD use blasts very rarely and always differently from other metal bands, they're full of strange grooves, which is why it's worth listening to them.

Steve is still releasing his own albums on his own label "Super Nova Records" since leaving Relapse. They've since released "Axis of Eden" and the fairly recent "Hope and Suicide"

and the history of those select few bands who pushed the metal envelope in their own direction by giving it their own unique spark of innovation.

most early relapse bands were among said group. in any case if you're a fan of metal as a genre... why would you be inclined to bad-mouth any metal band?

TITD's style of metal gave rise to a fairly large group of bands with this sound in their veins.

metal giants such as Mastodon owe a thanks to what is most of their base sound to TITD 's innovative style,because it had not been done much before them.
