Looking at the reviews, it seems like SilenX hat some huge quality problems with their fans. Among the problems seen here is one where bearings were leaking. Maybe that's what ahas happened here. I use SilenX fans (and a lot of them, in all sizes) since about 2010, and they work like a charm.
i know this is a few years old but sounds like they were rubbing against the grills of the fan's as in the little holes they push the air thru. i had the same problem every once in a while if i have my comp off all i do is tap on the fan and they are fine afterwards.
Yeah of course! I already sent them back to the store and got my money back. I am now running Noiseblockers and haven't got the slightest noise or airflow complaint :)
SilenX make fluid dynamic bearings on the Pro series, in particular the IXP-76-18. They'll work a long, long time quietly. Ballbearings, sleeve, and even hybrids have limitations you've discovered. As did SilenX.

I have replaced them with Noiseblockers BlackSilent XL2s, now working full power and rather silently too :)
