  • As far as missile launchers go, fail. They should have their own modules shown so you can get a visual on the weapons like with all others. Sounds more like laziness in the beginning dev than laziness now. Thanks

  • I would like to see subsystem damage, like Homeworld. Instead of just shield/armor/structure, how about if shields are down, and damage is taken into armor/structure, you see certain turrets go offline from damage, or propulsion damage as speed is decreased or hyperdrives offline, or targeting systems offline to where you can't use weapons at all?

  • @bladerunner162 Yup, I agree. I have no idea why designers decided to go with bent and square barrels, they just look... wrong. Especially, when compared to fancy turrets with normal round barrels. Those look fantastic.

  • @DanFrederiksen I agree. Eve has incredible potential but CCP are too greedy/lazy to make the game good (read their memo 'greed is good'). Personally I blame all the bullshit in MMO's on fucking Blizzard and that shitfest called wow.

  • @levtixx Partially yes, and some of them, like projectile turrets, sound really awesome now.

    Oh, and most effects got updated too, check dev blog entry about turrets if you want to know more.

  • @MagmaChinkasu I can't seem to find the blaster turrets that fire 5 or 6 shot salvos.. They're pretty dang awesome, and I want them. I just fit my ships with what I think is cool, not what works best, like a rainbow of laser crystals on an abaddon.

  • The CSM helped CCP understand the emotional connection players had with „ship spinning". They vehemently demanded the return of the feature, which CCP committed to introduce in some form at a future date. Until that functionality is added back in, the option to load station environments will remain in the Settings menu.

  • No, Rails are at the end after 5:09. I love these new turrets, even though specific damage done via missiles seem IMO much better for PvE, I love watching my amarr ships fire their lasers. I do hope missiles get some love next though in the visuals area.

  • @Tyke91 Agreed, they are the best in reality. Damage specific ammo makes up for lower damage, no cap usage, faster tracking and greater range falloff area.

    not worth designing mate would take a massive amount of time and pretty much remaping every ship in the game that uses a launcher making the missles actualy come out of its designated spot rather then how they are launched now.

  • Well i think i can say this knowing everyone will agree, About time! Very glad that they have taken the time to postpone the release so that they can do it the best they can, I know some of you cryed, CCP's Tear jar is still further more growing.

    Such a "Fantastic" game for a MMO only game i have played since 2009.

    Know am glad to say, Killing noobs in my machariel with those new sexual 800mm's will gladly put a smile on my face.

  • @sunsflux09 Thjey don't want you to love your drake even more, so they are making it so that people shift away from the drake :D

    Missiles are a different story anyway, I am fairly sure they are being worked on. Either that OR they will get removed somehow from the game so they don't make it lag like fuck anymore ^^

  • @XChaosXMuppetX I don't fly caldari on my main, I do on my alt though ^^ Mainly for bomber, but I leveled up to the drake and now into Tech 3 and heavy interdictors.

    Drake is quite impressive for a BC, it's bordeline on severe game imbalance I think ^^

  • @startide pfft, no. It can't do much solo. In fleets it's great, positively the most useful fleet BC. That doesn't make it unbalanced. It's been nerfed before. It barely has a damage bonus anyhow. Considering the other Caldari ships, taking that away from Caldari pilots would just be heartbreaking. This is coming from someone with about 200 kills in a drake.

  • @caldera11 I am a rather "new player", my first toon had a rather bumpy skillplan so it's far from "optimized". My calda toon on the other hand is grinding at a steady pace all skills that matter most for a given purpose. As such I am fairly sure my drake is far superior to my myrmidon on my main because my railgun skill suck badly, and my armor tanking skills weren't great at all back then.

    Still drake can indure L4 missions... that's something ^^

  • @startide Saying a ship is too strong because it can tank higher level missions says nothing about it's usability in PvP...to tank level 4s with a drake you will end up with around 300 DPS, maybe 400. If you bring that DPS into PvP, you won't be killing anything of similar size. You might not die, but you won't be killing anything.

    All Caldari ships are built for PvE anyhow, that's the one thing they are great at.

    As well...you will barely ever use railguns in PvP

  • @caldera11 From bottom to top. Daredevil is a good railboat, you have to fly it well and losing transversal against some ships is suicide. Ishkur, navy comet, enyo and harpy can be good railboats. Deimos can be alright but, as you imagine... once something catches you :p. Eagle is a nice gang ship with respectable range. Don't hug gates and you'll be fine :p. Now then, the Rokh, nice optimal, shit tracking. Kronos is a must for rails :p they CAN be used, people just need stop orbitting in pvp :p

  • @artoah Didn't say they weren't used, just said rarely. I could see them being used in solo more than in fleet ops.

    Of course rails are decent on frigates, basically any type of weapon is fair game since battles are so short it is all about having an edge. Eagle is meh. Deimos is diemost, as people say, and rokh is also meh. Most people would buy a vindi if they want to fly something as expensive as a kronos.

    Anyways thats all I have to say.

  • That is trully a good chance... but what about missile combat? Turrets already look cool now, but missiles just appear from under your ship..burn brightly and give an unsatisfactory poof at the end of their flight, always at the same impact point of the enemy's ship....

  • I loved all these new turrets except the new XL ones. They just don't look as beefy and manly as the old models.

  • @szejam Nope, the 1 second delay is Not lag, but intended design. Otherwise the servers wouldn't be able to keep up with 2000 people in a single system.

  • @xtechx I guess there will be either an option to turn fancy turrets off, or LOD flag will actually become something useful, and not "for debugging purposes only". And I don't think that weapon animations will slow servers down, they'll only affect your pc's perfomance.

  • @MagmaChinkasu right, fancy animated turrets are a client side only effect, the origin of the beams may vary a few meters which could be server sided, though that would have no effect on server performance and i highly doubt origin and hit point of beams are processed server sided

  • @Ashitaka255 Hah, no, I'm not connected with CCP in any way ('cept playing EVE of course) . But I hear you, some old ship designs, especially Caldari and Gallente ones, surely don't look like something that should fly in space with people on board.

    But I guess CCP does know that, latest designes (Revelations and after) show only minimal asymmetry, if showing at all. Missiles are one of their next things in "to do" list, so I hope we'll see most of ships redesigned in next year-two.

    Why cant the local client just animate/simulate that things, that means that the server doesent need to take the punishment for fancy graphics but the ones with good computers can have it on to enjoy the nice graphics of Eve.

  • @xtechx Animations have nothing to do with the servers. They could have ships with millions of points of articulation in constant motion, and the only thing it would grind to a halt would be your GPU. That being said, Eve is an evolving game. There will always be options to a degree to toggle things on and off, but ultimately people playing the game with rigs from 1999 are going to need to step up or get out.

  • @xtechx i zoom in on my ships when i fight i like the feel of power watching the lasers on my abbadon destroy things utterly and without question :) funny thing is im caldari but i turned to amar ships because laser and gold plating rule :)
