thats not entirely true. chiang was a confuscionist thinker. unfortunately many of his subordinates were not. when he purged the left from his party they simply went to mao and they easily infiltrated the kmt all along and were able to sabatoge the kmt efforts. chiang was too narrow minded. instead of purging the left from his own party he should have been more flexible in finding more common ground where both wings could unite aginst the ccp instead he drove the left right into the ccp hands.

thats the problem. in a way its true geographically. but its false politically the gov. is the republic of china, that is on taiwan. taiwan was returned to the r.o.c. in 1945 after ww2 by japan and is a province of the r.o.c. then japan gave up there rights and claims of taiwan to the r.o.c. in the sino-japan treaty of 1952, 7 hours before the treaty of san francisco went into effect. the r.o.c retreated to taiwan in 1949 which was there own territory of occupation from japan.

Sun Yat-sen founded the Republic, but he was no dictator and the Kuomintang under his rule was quite excellent at unifying China and healing rifts between the Communists and the Nationalists. However, Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek was a subpar inheritor to that legacy and turned the KMT into a regressive, proto-fascist party of thugs and backstabbers.

thats not entirely true. chiang was a confuscionist thinker. unfortunately many of his subordinates were not. when he purged the left from his party they simply went to mao and they easily infiltrated the kmt all along and were able to sabatoge the kmt efforts. chiang was too narrow minded. instead of purging the left from his own party he should have been more flexible in finding more common ground where both wings could unite aginst the ccp instead he drove the left right into the ccp hands.

@slimv29 yes, i know all that ive read thoroughly about sun yat sen and chiang kai shek they were influenced by communism but they didnt like it. did you know sun yat sen was also influenced by jefferson, lincoln, and hamilton and the gettysburg address? influence doesnt mean party membership. the left of the kmt went to maos side. true both were dictators but in the long run china would have been better off if chiang won. china today would be like taiwan now. mao was worse than chiang overall.

@slimv29 the kmt on taiwan has to be more democratic now because of the democratic progressive oppisition party . you dont understand democracy. its about constant change and self correction communism is totalitarian and oppressive. no system is ever really perfect. but democratic govs.are much more flexible and in tune with modern society. communism is only about the glory of the state and its leaders. democracy is truly about the people controlling the gov. with there vote. you dont get that.

@slimv29 the u.s.is not a zionist imperialist nation. communism is not about the liberation or empoeerment of people its about decieving and controlling people. the u.s. appears to many to be imperialist but thats the ignorance of many people who dont understand the concept of democracy. communism enslaves and oppresses people. democracy allows constant change and criticism by the people. true democracy is what the u.s. constituition says at the very beginning. @Yamatopetro thats what a communist country is essentially. the point is that you cannot reform communism into democracy. if you add 1000 reforms it will still be communism or a military dictatorship. either way its oppressive and deceptive. true democratic reform starts when you get rid of communism or military dictatorship. otherwise the commies are still in charge.and nothing will ever change for the better until they are gone.

@bigblondman1 well i agree with you that commies are bad. but i do think that a comunist country can turn into a democracy. since the leader have all the power in a communist country, he or she can turn the country to a democracy if he or she wish.cuz that what happen in russia. one leader tried to turn the soviet into a democracy and it worked. well i don't demand china to be a democracy. i only hope that they turn into a socialist country. socialism is better than communism.

@Yamatopetro i can agree slightly. in the sense that socialism isnt as bad as communism but one must be careful. socialism is essentially an economic system. communism is more exclusive and oppressive. the essence of communism is totaliarian. socialism is by comparison more flexible. if those were the only choices id take socialism over communism. democracy is a philiosophy that is diametrically opposed to communism. russia isnt exactly a democracy. i cant explain
