I watch and listen to Sumi Jo, and my faith in human nature is reaffirmed. If there is one Sumi Jo on earth, maybe, just maybe there is another like her. Perfect of voice and a sublime beauty. I doubt it, but I won't give up looking. In the meantime I shall continue to watch the real thing on YouTube and wait for the next performance of this ultimate star that I can attend.

I hate how, with Sumi, her diction just flies out the window when she's trying to sound her best. A little I can forgive... but seriously? I SPEAK Italian and know the lyrics to this and STILL can't get over it.

she is the best coloatura in the world with the great Mariella Devia. Devia for more heavy role Sumi is for More light. but both are perfect in their way... as for Gruberova and Desey..^^ 'good' too.....i wish she would make more diverse career. she's near to her 50 now.. but her singing is really still good.....there are so many belcanto role never sung often.. if Devia quit singing, no one could sing..except you..

In my opinion, She is the best coloratura in whole wide world! And the best Gilda, of course. She has that special sensitivity and her trills and everything-are stunning. Leaves me breathless everytime...

She's great, except quite a few flat notes. She needs to keep her palate lifted more to sustain the pitch at the ends of her phrases.
